The hotel was very nice, but there was no bar or room service. Because it rained the entire time of our stay, a nice restaurant would have been nice. They do have an Indian restaurant, but wasn’t a good option for us.

Everything was comfortable and the room was nice. The closet is larger than expected. The bathroom is pretty tight so if you plan on having two people getting ready at once in there, make other plans. The room is spacious for NYC, would've been nice if it had a sofa instead of just the chair to make more use of the space. Our room 905 had some visible ceiling repair work but was well maintained. The view out of our window was just of the apartment building across from us, not a flaw but not a perk either.

We have stayed at the San Carlos before and were thrilled it was available for this trip to NYC. The staff are always so friendly, the rooms large for city standards and the location can’t be beat for all NYC activities. The beds are so comfortable and the bedding really nice. Somehow we have always gotten upgraded to a room with a kitchenette and good coffee and coffee maker provided. We will always try to stay here on future travels to NYC.

A great NYC hotel, the rooms are specious, staff is helpful, location is right near the subway. Housekeeping is excellent. Thank you very much for a wonderful time in New York. Highly recommended!

Excellent location. Walkable to most places. The building itself is definitely not a luxury hotel. Needs renovation. However, bed was comfortable. I was put in a room right next to elevators, and overlooking a busy street. I asked if I could be moved, but guy at front desk said they did not have anything available and could maybe move me the next day. Never heard back even though I stayed 6 nights. He also said that since I was on 12th floor, I shouldnt hear much. Wrong. Garbage trucks, people yelling in the streets, sirens, you name it. Eh. Will stay in luxury hotel next time.

Loads of food options less than 50 yards from the hotel,The room was spotless and cleaned every day,Also the bonus was how close it was to the subway after a hard day off touring the city it was a great to have the subway so close,Also I have stayed in New York before and all you could hear was sirens and noise not the San Carlos never expected how quiet it would be,I cannot recommend this hotel enough
