Great little motel south of Rapid City. It’s just a quick drive to Rushmore and just a little further to Custer. Owners are very friendly and accommodating. The community gas grill and covered front porch with tables allowed us to save money and eat better by making our own meals. Would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay! We would 100% stay here again if we come back this way. We were in the lodge part. The rooms were clean and appeared to be recently updated. I never once heard our neighbors while we were in our rooms. There were fire pits and grills to use. The only downside of the lodge is that it’s up the hill from the main building. Not a huge deal though! Do yourself a favor and book this place!!

Pros: it was a convenient location. Decent priced. Was was decently comfy. Cons: there are no vending machines or ice machines at the golden nugget lodge. You have to get in car and drive down road to the other building. Snacks in the main area were 2 months expired which the two gentlemen working didn’t seem to think that was an issue. No ice maker or ice trays in freezer in room. We didn’t have hot water one night. Was told probably have to wait until morning to have it. Feet were dirty from walking on the floor. Food crumbs in fridge, kitchen floor and silverware drawer. The mold and dirt around the bathroom tub knob and kitchen sink drain were disgusting. I did photos graph those. No elevator, kids running up and down deck and you can hear the people in rooms beside you walking around their room. Made coffee one morning, only half pot worth and it took 23 minutes to brew and then it looked like tinted water. Was absolutely horrible/ the decanter was also filthy. Bare necessities for kitchen so pack stuff for that. I became injured the day we left for vacation so when we got to this establishment and realized there was no elevator and we had to get our 50lb suitcase up the steps I knew it was going to be an issue. I further injured myself doing this but survived . Because of this I knew we had to check out a day early as I wouldn’t be able to drive 8 hours to our next step and I would have to split it up. When I asked the staff regarding this I was told.who cares

Very small room but beds were comfy and room was decorated super cute. Bathroom was a clean and shower worked good. Room was clean and the air conditioner worked great. The lobby was great with a huge couch in front of a fire. You could play games, watch tv and/or listen to music. Very cozy. Do NOT try to check in early. We were 30 minutes early after driving 7 hours and they told us to come back at 3:00 or we could go around back and let the kids play at the very little splash pad or the jungle gym. Other than that it was perfect for a night or two.

Vacation with our 21, 18 & 2 YO.The place we stayed itself (hotel style)was nice, clean and quiet. However, the resort is seperated by a VERY busy Hwy 16. If you are in the cabins on the side by the lobby, you will be fine. This is also where the kids small splash pad is, bonus! If you are in the hotel style building and need to go to the lobby for anything such as extra toiler paper (which we asked for on day 2- and had to go and ask for again on day 3 as we never recived it) or to eat the complimentary breakfast of cold cereal and a few toast choices, it is across that highway. Needless to say you could not walk to it. Actually getting in and out of the main area seemed a little dangerous to us as entering and leaving the highway area is very awkward. Upon our departure we had forgotten our granddaughters cup and had already put the key in a drop slot. I saw a man stripping a bed so I went to find him. I found a maid in their cleaning walkway and explained what I needed. She said she could help. In the meantime the man came back and started yelling at me about being back there and that just because a door was open, didnt mean I could come in. He didnt let me even explain why I was there or that Id tried getting his attention before hand. He wasnt going to listen to me. The maid finally told him what I needed and he said hed take care of it. He was VERY rude. I went to our room, he was no where to be found, but had openes the door. Sealed the deal, we wont go back.

This was our first stay at Rockerville and it won’t be our last. The location of the place was outstanding and allowed us to easily drive to some of our long time favorite attractions. I would definitely recommend this lodge!!

I really enjoyed our stay. Close to everything we wanted to do and see. A little tricky to get to the main office for breakfast from out room but we made it ok. The staff we met and seen was so nice & friendly made us feel to home. Be nice to have had a couple of waffle machines and rolls or something also for breakfast but you can't have everything. Hope to go again some day.

The property has two sections of rooms. One section is more like small cabins and the other section is more like a row of old rooms that are in gteat need of repairs and attention. Our room, for example, was not in very good shape. The bathroom door was hard to open at times. The door knob was loose, the towel rack was very rusty and dusty, the bathtub was dirty, the bottom of the bathtub door was filthy. There was black mold in the bathroom ceiling.The bathroom also needs a curtain for the window for more privacy, as there were some blinds that didn't seem to cover the sides of the window very well. There was dust in the room's furniture, as well and the beds were super squeaky and shaky as rocker chairs. I would not stay here again. You get what you pay for.
