The Fairfield Inn and Suites was within walking distance of Old Town, San Diego. We had two wonderful days of touring all the wonderful sites in San Diego by taking the Hop On/Hop Off Trolley Tours on Twiggs Street. Old Town has numerous restaurants and shops. The hotel's reception staff was friendly, efficient, and courteous. Our room was clean and spacious with a mini fridge, micowave, and coffee maker. The breakfasts were varied and plentiful.

Picked the hotel for amenities (pool and hot tub). Unfortunately, the first night we could not access the hot tub, due to it being dominated by a group of people who chose to hang out there for hours. Second night and subsequent morning the hot tub was marked as out of service, and staff could not say when the hot tub would be functional again. Breakfast was a crowded affair, but adequate choices. Had a parked car for one night only, however charged for two nights, even though reception said we would not be! Requested a later checkout time (1pm instead of 12pm) but this refused as not Marriott members. I think we would generally consider staying somewhere else in San Diego old town in future, that may be a bit more accommodating to visitors from the UK.

Great stay. Only issue was the bathrooms need to be updated. The toilets are too low to the ground and the bathtub small Hard for an older person to get in and out Would be nice if they were walkin showers

Suite was advertised as sleeps 4 but it only had a king bed and a twin hide-a-bed sofa. We had to request a rollaway bed. Our room was next to an entry door to a building of room so the door was slamming all day and night which means no sleep. The breakfast and gym were great.
