The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The hotel was easy to find and had onsite parking. The room was comfortable and clean. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every moment. The breakfast was well organised with plenty of choice and the cooked breakfast was cooked to order on week days but help yourself buffet on the weekend though this was kept warm and well replenished. There is a good pool with sauna and steam room which we made full use of. The hotel is in a good location by the river with a 5 minute walk over the bridge to the town centre. The Christmas lights were on and everywhere looked spectacular. Our first real visit to the town having previously only having a brief stopover on our way through. Looking forward to our next visit.

Room was clean, a good size and fairy quiet. Room could do with some upgrades. Bath leaked when using the shower. Toilet was difficult to flush. Quilt on bed was thin and not that warm. Overall we enjoyed our stay. We would have mentioned this all to reception but there was no one available.

Lovely staff beautiful old part of building and communal areas. We were in a more modern extension and tge room was clean but decidedly tired and a bit tatty. he bed was uncomfortable and gave me a bad back.

Have previously visited this hotel, we decided to return. The staff were absolutely amazing, friendly helpful a total asset to the company. Brilliant breakfast, we also had dinner here, which we couldn’t fault. We had a twin room, and to be honest I dont think it was worth the money we paid, which was over £200 for the night. The curtains were torn and the fringe was hanging off. The water dispenser outside the room, didnt contain sparkling water, it was empty. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. I stayed due to us being impressed on a previous visit and because of the location. We had no sockets by the bed, so had to ask for an extension, as my sister wears a breathing mask at night.

This hotel suits us. The location and facilities. We overlook the minor issues. In our room the sink in the bathroom is cracked and the chain for the plug broken. The bathroom door has a a small piece missing. However we would book again.

Breakfast was a buffet one morning yet served the other. I had been expecting a served hot breakfast both mornings. Restaurant feels like a goldfish bowl if you are unlucky and get tables around the edge (mainly tables of 2 so we did each day). Hotel rooms are in a very tired and ugly building behind the attractive frontage of the hotel. Room was average, I expected better from a 4star. Window didn’t close, bed had a foot missing and bathroom floor tiles scratched and marked so looked very scruffy. Staff very pleasant

Excellent service, solid room and great housekeeping. But I think being held to a 3pm check in isn’t the best service (I arrived at 12.30, came back at 2.30 and felt the check in was just out of principle). Breakfast - service was great but porridge was terrible, no fresh fruit and why is an avocado charged at a £5 supplement to paying for breakfast?

Really disappointed.. we got a luxury double and I the pictures came with lovely exposed beams and four poster bed. I even sent an email to the property to say I am looking forward to sleep in that amazing bed as seen in the picture. The hotel replied saying” looking forward to see you …” what room did we get: … a very tired standard double bed , the robinet in the bathroom was not working well and was spinning in the empty, the bath tab was old and yellow the sink metal had chips , the wall paper was not right , no exposed wood instead old paper wall with air bubbles yellow and in places almost coming off, no light in the cupboard, no cosmetic mirror in the bathroom .. tea caddy and coffee was not plentiful for two persons. breakfast too expensive so we walked in the town where there are many beautiful old restaurants offering quality full breakfast. Positives: the bed was comfortable. Bar downstairs had a nice and friendly barman . Should have booked somewhere else ! my heart to see such a beautiful and old charming building being in such a state …

Very convenient for business trip. Parking was additional which was surprising. Staff very efficient and friendly, bed not comfortable. Very frustratingly Hotels.com have over charged me and I’ve paid more than advertised rate and hotel rate as per vat receipt. Very poor from hotels.com but I can’t go through the pain of trying to make contact to sort.
