Torrox is a municipality and town in Spain, in the province of Malaga, autonomous community of Andalusia. It is believed that the origins of Torrox are in a Roman factory city probably called Caviclum . The Arabs promoted the planting of mulberry trees, turning Torrox into a center of the silk industry, which served the demand of the Malaga and Granada markets, where it was highly appreciated. After the Castilian conquest it suffered the consequences of the rebellion of the Moors, the expulsion of these and the following repopulations.
