Hotel Bahnhof exceeded my expectations from the moment i stepped out of the Zermatt station - it was just across the street and so central that you were right on the shopping street and the goats passed it in the morn and afternoon on their trek to the mountains. I stayed in the hostel portion in a women’s room with 4 sets of bunk beds and I was very happy with my bottom bunk by the window, which had the illusion of privacy and cool air from the window. The facilities are very clean and well maintained, and the kitchen fully equipped for major cooking or in my case, microwave food and kettle for tea. There seemed to be enough showers and toilets to go around and the coin operated washer/dryer was a welcome luxury that other hotels i stayed at didn’t seem to have. The desk clerks were nice and helpful. Overall, it was a great stay.

Great view!

Lovely front desk welcome, and check in was able to happen early after a long travel day. My room was clean, and my bed was super comfortable. I had a shared bathroom and shower, but it was always impeccably clean and stocked. Water was hot/pressure was great. It was nice having my own sink and vanity in my room, and fresh towels were provided daily. Clear view of the Matterhorn from my little balcony, which was beautiful. The cons: no lift, and the restaurant noise outside was super intense on my second out of two nights until 11:30pm, and I had to start my hike to Matterhorn base camp early the next morning. That was rough.

This location is excellent and the train station is across the street, (I never heard the train). The green line bus stop is about a 30 second walk, while the heart of downtown is located a couple of minutes from this hotel. The rooms were clean and my hostel bed was configured in such a way that it was very private. I would stay here again!

It was very low-end for the price. Pillows (one each) were basically flat. Mattress was reasonably comfortable. Front desk attendant was great and the cleaning staff were better than many other places more expensive. Maid service every day. No room refrigerator or coffee maker. Both were in a lower level common kitchen where some guests prepared very smelly meals. A cup of coffee costs 2 CHF. Balconies on rooms insecure, allowing anyone with access to the center hall to walk right up too your window or door. This happened to us.

Hotel Bahnhof was probably my favorite stay of our entire trip. The location is absolutely spectacular — just steps from the train station and super easy to find. The whole place had a relaxed, welcoming vibe and felt very safe. It’s thoughtfully set up for travelers, with a well-equipped group kitchen and convenient luggage storage after check-out. These little touches made a big difference. This was also incredible value for money. I couldn’t be more impressed and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. A fantastic stay all around!

Place in the snow

Short stay - was aware it was hostel. Ground floor room which was great and windows that open. Was hot inside even though snow outside and no heating operating. Just across the road from the train station. Nothing in Zermatt is far away. Coop store 5 mins away with good selection of ready to eat food. Has communal kitchen which was great for quiet free cuppa. Really helpful reception. It is a hostel so rooms are tiny as is bathroom however shower is hugh with good water flow

Good dorm style room with locker for valuables and a ski/luggage room. No elevator, so be prepared for lots of stairs!
