1. No place to get coffee in the morning. I was directed to stand in the long line for the dining room, be seated, and order just a cup of coffee. Most hotels of Cordis' quality have full urns of coffee and water in the lobby for guests. 2. The hourly shuttle to downtown is a great service. 3. There was a concierge that was never at his desk. I stood at the concierge desk waiting. He would pass by and briefly look at me and keep walking. I did not expect this in a high quality hotel like Cordis.

You can do better Cordis. No VIP perk - this is the 4th time this has not been provided. The bathroom floor was filthy! We were woken by housekeeping repeatedly pushing the doorbell until they woke us and we answered the door. Would you not think that if the door is locked that people are inside asleep??? Clearly not! We were also told we were upgraded to a skyline room - it was a room facing the main road and we looked out to a building. The floor we were moved to had a lot of children who ran up and down the corridor yelling repeatedly. The upside - the beds are comfortable and good pillow selection.

Decent location, well appointed room but a little tired, amazing breakfast buffet! Top 10 in our 70 countries thus far. Room, lounge, chandlier restaurant all could have been a bit cleaner (especially compared to the rest of NZ hotels and restaurants which are typically spotless!). We arrived 15 min before 3pm and couldn't check into our room, so they took our bags and we had lunch. We checked in with them after eating to say we were going for a walk, NO PROBLEM they said, we'll certainly take your bags to your room, enjoy. 3 hours later we come back to no bags on the room. We went back downstairs to check, they can't find them?! Five minutes of searching they do, offering to call someone to take them up, no way! The place was packed with a wedding or something going on, no doubt it would be another hour if we did that. After 24 hours in transit just to get to NZ we needed fresh clothes! They dropped the ball there.

Wish we stayed for more than 5 nights.

From check in to check out 5 days later our experience at The Cordis was first class. The staff were exceptional, the free shuttle was a bonus, breakfast was great and the in room dining menu was very good.
