After reserving this hotel, I’ve heard about the news about a woman visiting Japan on a solo trip reported finding a man hiding under her bed in her room at an APA Hotel in Tokyo. I felt insecure, so, checked the hotel’s website that the security cameras are available. Anyway, the Hotel’s cleanliness, overall services meet the Japanese standards. Staffs were willing to support with smile, and the location is very convenient. There’s a supermarket located right behind the hotel. Only 5 minutes to the Airport by taxi.

Service was exceptional. Other APA locations ask you to check-in yourself and foreigners tend to struggle in this process. But when we arrived, we were greeted warmly and the front desk staff checked us in quickly. I also wanted to courier (takyubin) my suitcases to a hotel in Osaka, the front desk lady Iwata was extremely friendly and helpful, she confirmed my booking with the hotel in Osaka and that they can receive the packages. Then she completed the way bill for me and leaving a note to her colleague for the next day when I checked out. The whole process was very streamlined. APA hotel rooms are small so you have to be strategic in moving your suitcases. We were able to fit 2 big and 1 carryon under the bed. Beside the small room, all amenities are provided. Location was great, as it was 1 stop east to Hakata where we did most of our transit. The hotel is literally at one of the station exit, but there is no escalator so be prepared to haul the suitcases. It’s not in the downtown core so it’s quiet at night which we appreciated. There is a seven eleven convenience store just across the street.

They do not allow outside calls from the rooms, so if you don't have an international phone plan, you have find a pay phone. There is one across the street from the back door of lobby, but it's an unexpected inconvenience.

the room was so small.. the bed was very uncomfortable and the 2 pillows were flatter than pancakes. bathroom so so small you can't sit on the toilet with the door shut. avoid

I remember reading a complaint in the reviews about dust but was surprised after looking behind my TV to see it being dusty. I wasnt too shocked, its an odd location. After lying on my bed i saw a streak on the roof that looked like dust. Looking closely it was dust. And the location made it seem that it was blown in from the panasonic ceiling mount heater. So it seems that they have an issue with dust. If thats a deal breaker for you, you might want to think twice. I also saw a layer of dust on a unit on the 2nd floor next to the microwave, directly below a duct. So I think the cleaning crew is doing a good job, but the HVAC system has some issue. When i mentioned the dust to the staff they cleaned it immediately and did a good job. I have always had good experiences with APA staff, one reason i like the chain. I suspect there is active construction near by, from the sing song voice yelling loudly and the beeping of heavy equipment. So if you open your window you'll get fresh air, but also some free singing and beeps.
