We stayed for 2 nights in late September (family of 3). The hotel is right on the lake, with beautiful views of Mt.Fuji from the roof top, and we had that same view from our room - it was spectacular! We had half board (breakfast and dinner) and the food and sevice were excellent. Onsen was an amazing experience - it was the first time for us and we loved it! That said, property could use some updates (for instance, our private bath was a bit outdated but it didn't bother us). Don't excpect super modern hotel, because that's not what Lakeland is. It is very charming and traditional. We enjoyed our stay very much and would stay again.

Beautiful views of Lake Kawaguchiko. We were even lucky enough to have about a 12 hour cloudless(of 72) window to see Mt Fuji. Dining is strange. Three of our six meals were served in a windowless cubicle, when there were tables available in a large dining room with windows everwhere. Wonderful, friendly and helpful staff.

On the listing, it said we could get free transportation from the train station to the hotel in less than 10 minutes, but we had to wait 45 minutes to an hour at the train station for the bus to arrive. It would have been faster to walk there ourselves. When we arrived, the hotel interior was very rundown and dated. Our room was nice, but our toilet seat and sink both had large cracks in them. Our room had a private bath, and it was relaxing, but the water was not filtered and there were multiple very large spiders and other insects in the water and around the bath. For dinner, there was a lot of food, and some of it was good, but almost nothing was explained to us so we did not know what we were eating for the most part. Breakfast was very good though. The most disappoint thing though is we found out when we arrived that the private onsen was not included in the price of our stay, and we had another upcharge for it, so we did not use it. Overall a very disappointing experience, especially at this price point, which was extremely high.

Loved how unique this stay was. They even provide a shuttle pick up from Kawaguchiko Station. This hotel is situated right infront of Lake Kawaguchiko so our view every time we get out is beautiful. We also reserved the room with Mt Fuji view and was able to wake up to Fuji. The only complaint we have is that the bathroom in our room smells odd (unsure what it is but smells like mold maybe bc its an older facility???). Other than that, staff is really nice and very accomodating (they even carry your luggages up to you room and also once u check out). There is also a viewing balcony at the very top of the building which was nice.
these were provided to us for the onsen in site
view from the viewing balcony
they had set up our beds while we were out for dinner (arnd 6-7pm)

We chose 2 Superior Japanese rooms (Mt Fuji view) with on-deck soaking tub for 8 adults to share. Also dinner and breakfast plan. This reservation was a bit of a splurge or our first 2 nights in Japan. It was wonderful! Truly exceptional staff! Incredible views. Both of Mt Fuji from the room we selected and also of the (very nearby/easily walkable) lake from the dining room and in the evenings. The meals were excellent in presentation, content and service. The intermittent shuttle was convenient and appreciated. The onsen offerings were very enjoyable for the group and not at all crowded when we used them. In fact, the hotel in general seemed quite and calm. The public areas seemed well finished and updated/or well maintained. Some wonderful, artful and authentic accents too! Our Superior Japanese room accommodated pretty well 4 adults sleeping in futons on the tatami mat floors (which takes some getting used to). We requested 4 single futons rather than what seemed the standard 2 double futons. We also requested another regular chair (so 2 total). There were also 4 floor seats around a short-legged floor table. This extra chair also came in handy when juggling luggage some in the mornings and evenings when getting ready. so we could avoid luggage have much contact with tatami mats. The room did have some aspects that were old/dated but which were also very well maintained and clean.
