This hotel is absolutely terrible. This was my third stay, and each time the experience has been worse. I will never return and do not recommend this hotel to anyone. The first issue is the access road. From the main road to the hotel entrance there is no proper asphalt road at all — just a broken dirt road full of holes. You present yourselves as a 4–5 star hotel, yet you cannot even provide a normal driveway. At check-in we were given room keys that did not work. No one offered help with our luggage. We had to carry our suitcases to the room, then back again, and only after that were we finally able to enter. The room itself was awful. There was a strong mold smell, the minibar was half empty, and the safe did not lock. When we asked to change rooms, we were told the hotel was fully booked and that we must contact Expedia to change the room. Seriously? I have never experienced this in any hotel before. The food was another huge disappointment. Everything tasted bad. Even the mashed potatoes were inedible — full of hard lumps. The pastries served every morning were stale and dry. It’s unclear where or how they are prepared. At the Italian restaurant, the minestrone soup was a complete joke — a tasteless liquid with some shredded chicken and beans. Nothing else. Overall, this hotel is a complete failure and does not meet the standards it claims to have.

Almost everything was perfect. Our room was really nice, the staff friendly and very helpful, food was incredible. The only 2 items that weren't to our liking were the bed and Destination Services. Our room had 2 standard sized beds pushed together instead of the king sized bed we thought we had requested. What 5 star resort does that? One of us was forced to sleep on the seam where the 2 mattresses came together.This was unacceptable and very uncomfortable like staying at a 1 star motel. One of our cell phones fell between the mattresses and was nearly lost until we pulled the beds apart and it fell to the floor.The bus to the airport for our return trip home was over half an hour late and the driver forgot to load all the luggage and had to return to the Palace after picking up people at the Santa Fe. We were almost late for our flight. These were the only 2 things that were negative during our trip.

Very beautiful and clean resort! Staff was very nice. Rooms were always cleaned when we came back. A few things I wish had been better was the entertainment aspect, and more affordable spa services. There is also a lot of birds and flies amongst the resort but not sure if they are able to control that. I would definitely go back.
