Well Chosen!
This hotel is within Lucca's Walls, but is at one end of the area inside. However, this is not a disadvantage because it is in a very interesting and attractive part of the town, with more space, and close to the nicest part of the walls. A more central hotel may well feel "hemmed in" and less relaxing.
We had a "superior" room and these are in a separate building a 90-second walk away, The only disadvantage would be if it was raining, but the quality of the rooms much more than makes up for this. Overall, the hotel is fully 4-star quality, with very helpful and knowledgeable reception staff and a very good buffet breakfast. There is an area, near reception, where tea, coffee, soft drinks, cakes, etc. are available throughout the day, free, until 7pm. There is no restaurant, but reception will make recommendations and reservations for you. We loved Lucca and spent 5 days getting to know it quite well. If we go back, we will DEFINITELY choose the same hotel.
