Great old school hotel in a great location

I was impressed from the moment I walked into the hotel. This is how hotels should be run--like true hospitality from an earlier era. The front desk staff were professional, patient and very kind. The process of checking in was very quick and they took the time to answer all of my questions and to direct me to places I wanted to go. The doormen (if that's what they are still called) are extremely professional, helpful and eager to answer questions. The building is historic and beautiful. The location is perfect in my opinion for easy walking access to all of the art museums, Retiro Park, great restaurants and all of the beautiful city of Madrid. The rooms while maintaining that vintage charm have updated appointments and modern conveniences. The bathroom is modern and quite nice. There is a nice gym in the hotel with enough equipment and space to accommodate a nice workout. The housekeeping staff is outstanding. They were quick to make up my room and did a great job every day. A rarity these days. The entire hotel is immaculate. Compliments to the housekeeping staff. I recommend this hotel highly
