Sijainti: Highland Housen loma-asunto on noin 30 minuutin ajomatkan päässä Yosemiten kansallispuiston pääsisäänkäynnistä ja 7 kilometrin päässä Mariposan Gold Rush -kaupungista. Mökki sijaitsee lyhyen kävelymatkan päässä pienestä maakaupasta ja kadun toisella puolella bussipysäkkiä, joka vie matkustajat Yosemitelle ja takaisin. Korkeus on 2500 jalkaa mäntyissä ja vuodenaikojen purossa, jossa on villieläimiä ja erilaisia lintuja.

Historia: Mökki oli Midpinesin kaupungin perustajan Newell Chamberlainin koti. Hän julkaisi artikkeleita ja The Call of Gold-True Tales kultatielle Yosemiteen, kirjan, joka koski kullan louhintaa alueella 1930-luvulla.

Majoitukset: Mökissä on keittiö, johon kuuluu uuni, liesi, mikroaaltouuni, kaksoisallas, jääkaappi, kattilat, pannut, astiat, teekannu, kahvinkeitin, leivänpaahdin ja paljon muuta. Pesutuvassa on pesukone ja kuivausrumpu. Olohuoneessa on ruokailutila, josta on näkymä metsään, ja olohuone, josta on kauniit näkymät karhun puroon ja ympäröivään metsään. Langaton internet ja internetyhteys tarjotaan.

Nukkumisjärjestelyt: Mökissä on kaksi alakerran makuuhuonetta ja yläkerrassa makuuhuone ja parvi. Alakerrassa on kaksi kylpyhuonetta. Makuuhuoneessa 1 on queen-vuode ja tilava oleskelutila, makuuhuoneessa 2 on täysi sänky ja oma kylpyhuone. Makuuhuoneessa 3 on queen-parvi ja parvella on kaksi erillistä vuodetta. Huoneissa on komerot ja laatikot vaatteille ja säilytystiloille. (nukkuu jopa 8 henkilöä)
     
Liinavaatteet ja paperitavara toimitetaan yhdessä pyykinpesuaineen, saippuan ja shampoon kanssa. Keittiöstä löydät sokeria, jauhoja, kahvia, teetä, öljyä, mausteita, astianpesuainetta, paperipyyhkeitä jne.

Paikalliset ravintolat ja ostosmahdollisuudet: Useat erittäin hyvät ravintolat sijaitsevat seitsemän mailin päässä. Maakauppa on kävelyetäisyydellä. Pioneer Market, täyden palvelun ruokakauppa, sijaitsee Mariposa (7miles).

Half Dome Adventures

While I am months behind on sharing this, it's important I do so! My husband won permits to hike Half Dome and we invited some friends to join us for the long weekend. This location was perfect! It was close to a small grocery and town so we could enjoy access to cook food at the house and try some new restaurants while not being so far from the park that we had to be awake at a truly horrific hour to get started. The house was clean, had plenty of space, was cozy (we all enjoyed relaxing after the hike) and all six of us had decent privacy/space so we weren't tripping over each other. It was amazing to have the full kitchen and plenty of comfortable spots to sit. Bed were comfortable, which anyone who has travelled a decent amount can attest, that is not always a guarantee. The owner was perfectly pleasant to chat with and provided all the necessary information and granted us privacy as well. We will gladly be staying here in the future on our next adventure to the park with friends.

Far below expectations

We stayed 15 minutes before deciding to leave and get a hotel. We found the location and property very depressing…not at all what we were expecting. If you are just looking for someplace to rest your head at night then setting out all day long, then this may be the place for you. But if you are expecting to enjoy some time sitting outside, relaxing and enjoying the view then I’d suggest looking elsewhere. I was unable to get into the VRBO app to cancel the reservation but a refund would only have been given if someone else had rented (highly unlikely at the last minute) Inside the house appeared clean with a well supplied kitchen and the owners were easy to get in touch with. Just a shabby depressing environment.

Grande maison chaleureuse, mais un peu ancienne et pas très proche de Yosemite.

Très grande maison, bonne literie. L'ambiance est chaleureuse avec beaucoup de bois, mais on sent que la maison est ancienne et nécessiterait un peu de rafraichissement (moquette). Dommage aussi que l'extérieur ne soit pas mieux aménagé... Dans notre famille de 5 nous avons apprécié notre séjour. C'est spacieux, la buanderie est appréciable aussi

Spacious house nearby Yosemite

The house is spacious and well equipped. We had everything we need. The house is directly located at the 140 leading into Yosemite, so perfect for visits into the NP, the traffic is a bit noisy in the night and morning. It was too hot to sit on the terrace, but there are two and also chairs besides the creek.

Short Stay

Rustic, huge place, well appointed. Plenty of room for 3 adult couples or a huge family. Beds were comfortable. Could use some better pillows, but they we not bad. House is very close to the main highway, so lots of road noise well into the evening. This is a very wild area, in terms of outdoors. That said, the outside area around the home is poorly manicured, though that didn't stop us from enjoying it and the beautiful crystal-clear stream running thru the back area. The place is about a 5-minute drive back to Mariposa, that has plenty of cool dining options. It's about an hour drive to Yosemite Valley, mostly along the Merced River, which is amazing. In general, we felt we made a good choice staying here and would stay again.

We had a good visit- the house was well stocked with towels, blankets, kitchen tools, etc. We never figured out the drip coffee maker, but the keurig filled in and was well stocked. Washer and dryer were also handy. It was great to have a large dining room table we could all eat at comfortably.

Wonderful Cabin!

My elderly uncles stayed here for 10 days and had a great time! They "forgot" to check out on the designated date and the hosts were wonderful about accommodating them and making sure they got to their next destination. They loved the roomy, clean and cozy cabin which was well located for their Yosemite adventures. This cabin made all the difference in how they enjoyed the park. It was world's apart from staying in a hotel room.

Great charming Cabin. Very clean. Nice hosts. Comfortable beds. Do not rely on GPS. The only issue is GPS took us off-road to boonies… the marker is Wrong on Google, Apple, Waze and Tesla nav. Just look for the sign and you won’t miss it.

Yosemite Family Vacation

Overall, the space met the needs of 2 families of 4. It was clean, and mostly what we expected. Though the refrigerator was able to eventually keep an adequate temperature, getting in/out of it too much caused the temp to increase quickly so we were quite concerned the first night after unloading our groceries. We contacted the property owner who responded very quickly, and is aware the refrigerator needs serviced. Unfortunately, there was little to be done during our stay, but to try and limit opening/closing it often. The freezer worked fine. Overall we had a great vacation and upon confirming the fridge has been serviced, I would stay at the property again.

Perfect place to enjoy Yosemite and the surrounding area!

Finding a comfortable place for a family of 7 is no easy task. This house fit the bill just perfectly! The kitchen had everything we could have needed. The beds were comfortable. Everything was clean. Because of summer traffic, it took about an hour to get to the Arch Rock entrance of Yosemite, but the ride along the Merced River was a beautiful part of the journey. It was also nice to be so close to Mariposa. The house is listed as 3 bedroom, but there is a door between the two spaces in the loft which makes it feel like a 4 bedroom. Just be sure that the people sleeping in the loft are okay with coming downstairs to use the bathroom. It wasn’t a problem for us at all. Communication with the owner was pleasant and all messages were answered quickly. Highly recommended!

The cabin exceeds the photos online. Cozy, comfortable, and we’ll stocked kitchen. Linens were soft and plentiful, great place for a family with plenty of beds for everyone! We would have loved to stay longer.

A great visit with visiting family

My two brothers and a sister-in-law came to visit us from the east coast. We thought it would be great to take them to see Yosemite. We searched out this house back in December and thought it sounded like it would work. Turned out, it was perfect. It had lots of room, was very comfortable, and was fully equipped with everything we needed. We had a wonderful stay. Thanks for making it available to us vacation renters.

This was a great stay for our family of 6! We got the YARTS bus passes to get us into Yosemite, and the YARTS bus stop was RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET from this rental! GREAT! There is also a great little old-town of Midpines, just 8 minutes away to walk around and enjoy to local culture!
