Great Weekend in Deep Creek

Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Lodge was awesome. 5 minute drive to the Mountain, grocery stores, etc. But secluded enough to feel like you were alone in the woods. Great living area and the bedrooms were very comfortable.

We had a wonderful week. We made full use of the fire circle, porches and hot tub.

We had a great time! We had difficulty eating together the first 2 days then moved an outside table into the dining room. Upon packing up, my son found a leaf for the dining room table. All is well. I did have some concern about the exposed outside walkway. There were exposed metal spikes. One of the four year olds fell and came very close to hitting it with his eye. Somewhat concerning. We found lots of things to do and see. The house fit our family very well! Thanks.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall the house was in pretty well condition except for a few items. -Broken chairs when we arrived -the Hot tub was not getting hot to the expected temperature -Dish washer was full of mildew water when arrived, the whole main level of the house smelled terrible.

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was unkept. The grounds were unmaincured, webs on the house, dirty windows. The interior walls need painted, the tile needs regrouted or thoroughly cleaned, the carpet needs replaced, and maintenance needed on the appliances ( issues lighting gas stove and dryer motor broke) and kitchen fan. Had a number of problem with insects inside, Several spiders in the bathroom downstairs and a roach on the counter the day of departure. There was a bear in the yard four out of five days that we were there and in the trash twice. The basement stayed freEzing cold while the second floor was extremely hot.

Rating Details: I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very unhappy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was adequately helpful. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had sent a private review of our stay to deep creekmlodging property managemenet people because our stay and the issues we had about some false advertising and problems with chairs, kitchen things, space, seating, lighting, distance from the lake, hot tub on front porch facing on the road, laundry being in master bedroom,etc, were negative and we didn't really want to post them. We did not feel the place accommodated more than 6 people comfortably. For 6 people (adults especially) the place would be very good...but it's not near the beach or dock at the lake. It there had been snow or ice on the ground, we'd never have been able to negotiate the woods and rocky trail that also seemed to go through others yards to the dock and lake. The place was very very clean and the king size bed comfortable. Many of our concerns had already been posted but never taken care of. If the property management people had gotten back to us about our concerns, I wouldn't even be writing this now. But they always said, "have a nice day" and were very very pleasant, but never took care of our concerns about lack of chairs or silverware or outside lights being burned out. It was very foggy and dark when we were there. Manager responded on 1/15/2016: Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any confusion and inconveniences. The home provides sleeping capacity for 12 people, and the home is plenty large enough for 12. The home does have lake access, and it is a 5-10 minute walk to the home. This is typical for area, as the lake access is not always directly in front of the home. As well, the dock is not in the water during the winter season, as the lake is normally frozen during this time of the year. In regards to the dining room seating, the dining room table and seating capacity are clearly indicated on the website. We apologize for any inconveniences and misunderstanding.

The overall review, the place could benefit from a major cleaning. Kitchen was well equipped with a decent selection of cooking utensils, making meals we had everything we needed. Family room furniture needs replaced, the quality of television(s) was very poor, I would not consider 10" screens in the bedrooms sufficient. The basement level was unbearably cold, and the smoke detector obviously broken. Upstairs bathroom commode seat was completely broken. This place could easily be a 10 for a rental with some updates, repairs and a major cleaning!

Rating Details: I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was more than happy with the location. The vacation rental was very dirty. The property manager was adequately helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location, family had a good time. The overall review, the place could benefit from a major cleaning. Kitchen was well equipped with a decent selection of cooking utensils, making meals we had everything we needed. Family room furniture needs replaced, the quality of television(s) was very poor, I would not consider 10" screens in the bedrooms sufficient. The basement level was unbearably cold, and the smoke detector obviously broken. Upstairs bathroom commode seat was completely broken. This place could easily be a 10 for a rental with some updates, repairs and a major cleaning!

Lovely home, but no lake access

Reviewer Comments: Chateau of Dreams features a picture of Deep Creek Lake, but the only lake access is 1/4 mile away and limited to a small area where a creek meets the lake. Further, the lot is so steep that you can't relax outdoors on the property either. (And the previous tenants had left the garbage dumpster full of unbagged trash - which was ravaged by bears.) This home is NOT ideal for a summer get-away! However, the house was clean, beds were comfy, and everything (including the hot tub) worked well. Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was more than helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was a very pleasant house in a peaceful and attractive location. The description gave me the impression that despite being a house with 5 bedrooms, there was meal seating for only 6. In reality, there were 8 chairs for the dining table, and stools for the bar, so all 11 of us could sit and eat at the same time. The property was clean and well-maintained. Staff were friendly. They were helpful in getting the hot tub to work. (Printed instructions on how to take the hot tub out of "economy mode" would have been helpful.) However, there were a few disappointments. While the house does come with "lake access," that has been defined in the broadest terms. After a drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, there is a 6 minute brisk walk over rough and slippery ground. It ends at a set of steps taking you into a muddy, shallow bit of Deep Creek Lake where you probably would not want to go in. What is more disappointing is that it was represented to us as being suitable for swimming and having a "beach" when we called. Mud and flotsam do not constitute a beach. A particular high point was seeing a Black Bear in the yard, apparently drawn near by the smell of our grilling hamburgers. A low point was finding that the "bear-proof" steel garbage dumpster at the end of our driveway was easily tipped by a bear, springing it open and leading to a huge mess everywhere. We called to let the management company know. Pretty much the same thing happened again the next night. Judging by the loose garbage in the receptacle when we first put our bags in, we were not the first guests to experience this. Still, we had a good time and enjoyed the house. It was a restful environment. With a genuinely bear-proof garbage receptacle and usable lake access, it would be 5-star. I would recommend this house to a friend, but only with caveats about lake access and the likelihood of strewn garbage. Manager responded on 7/27/2015: Thank you for your feedback.
