Elaine at check-in was fantastic. We booked through Expedia and were placed in a main level room that was basement like, only one small window way above the bed. This was a special anniversary for us and I asked for another room and we received a beautiful room, thanks to Elaine.

Staff and service 5/5! The village around does not have much to offer but the hotel compensate with many activities either indoor (pool, kids room, etc) and outdoor (small ice rink, curling, etc). Room was clean and lobby too. Only thing is we went during spring break so there were a lot of kids running around on all floors. They have a cute dog as their ambassador too. Their bar and restaurant is quite expensive.

The hotel caters to conferences more than the guests that go for a vacation stay. The activities are open for a short period of time and close early. The resort fee is not commensurate to what you are offered to use. The food and pool are very good.

The property and experience are amazing. No other place like it. We have stayed there several times. The only downfall is that the rooms have not all been renovated. We were given a room on the 4th floor this time, and the bathroom was a challenge. Toilet oversprays when it flushes, sink has a slow drain, and the shower was difficult to control from too hot to too cold. Bathroom has a pedestal sink, very tiny and no where to put anything. Room was very hot and stuffy even tho we turned the heat off when we arrived, and it was -15 outside. Bed mattress needs replacing, bed was very creaky and hard to sleep when one of us even turned over! Property is managed incredibly well tho, and every staff member went beyond being pleasant. Did we just receive this room bc we booked thru Expedia?

Lovely property but needs some TLC.

Montebello is a charming property - when you are there you know you're somewhere special and with history. However, I'm not sure it's quite living up to the Fairmont name and $$. Service was terrific (especially the gentleman who checked us in!) and our dinner in the main restaurant was outstanding. However, some parts of the property are in dire need of an update, most notably the fitness center and spa change rooms.
