Fairly convenient location by Bryant Park. Even though it's a shared bathroom, it's private and only 3-5 rooms per bathroom. Plus, there is a sink in every room which was great. The sink and toilet were not cleaned everyday. There was no soap anywhere in rooms or bathrooms. Some of the staff were incredibly nice. Others less so. The check out time is at 11 AM, rather than 12 PM, which is the time published their website.

DO NOT RECOMMEND - the windows are paper thin and all the city sounds come the through -ugh- I had noise canceling head phones and still could hear- at 5:30 am the construction across the street started and it was deafening - I have video. Trying to talk to my family on the phone, they thought I was in the street. the rooms look nothing like the pictures, older, dirty, need updated, and just a sink- shared bathroom in small letters means 8 or more other rooms share the bathroom in the hall… the only shower and place to go to the bathroom … shared by strangers, when you gotta go you have to wait… not ok. Also the breakfast which the front desk guy called a snack - a plain bagel and hot water for instant coffee. Do you really want your memory of New York to be that you pooped your pants waiting for the room four doors down to get out of the shower… or to be singing karaoke to some loud polka music with the guy in the street below at 2am (real things) … real adventures of NYC at the nightmare American INN

Property is older so windows and walls do not block sound. Shades on windows are old and don’t block light well. Neither made for a great nights sleep. Shared bathroom floor had standing water and was not well cleaned. Lots of hair.

I knew about the shared bathrooms in advance. I lucked out and was directly across from it. Room was very small. Reasonably clean and functional. Bring your own soap and shampoo. Awoken by an early loud argument that went non stop for 15 minutes. Then abruptly nothing. Location and price can’t be beaten. That’s why I was there. Don’t go expecting anything more than a bed and bathroom and spend your extra dough on Juniors cheesecake!

There was no toilet paper in the room when we arrived and even after requests it took about 40 mins to get any. The sheets were gross and it was just pretty lousy overall. If it wasn’t 400 dollars a night it would have been ok but for that price not worth it.

The walls are thin and too noisy to sleep. Even the staffs are making too much noise during the day. Screaming at night can be heard and unable to rest and sleep. Feeling unsafe.

Despite a rather rocky start with the initial booking process at the Americana Inn – let's just say technology and ourown fumble-fingeredness weren't exactly in sync – our stay ultimately turned out to be nothing short of amazing. While the pre-arrival hiccups had me slightly concerned, the experience once we arrived completely erased any lingering anxieties, largely thanks to the exceptional professionalism and resourcefulness of the manager, Dan. From the moment we stepped into the charming lobby, Dan exuded a calm and reassuring demeanor. He listened attentively as we explained the booking complications, demonstrating genuine empathy and a commitment to finding a solution. What impressed me most was his proactive approach; he didn't just offer excuses, but immediately set about exploring all available options. He navigated the complexities with impressive efficiency, making calls, checking availability, and patiently explaining the situation to us every step of the way. Dan's professionalism wasn't just about fixing the booking error; it was evident in every interaction. His clear communication, his willingness to go the extra mile, and his genuine desire to ensure our comfort were truly remarkable. He managed to turn a potentially frustrating situation into a testament to the Americana Inn's commitment to customer satisfaction. By the time he secured us a lovely room – even managing an upgrade, which was a delightful surprise – we felt completely taken care of.

The shared bathroom was not clear enough on the reservation. While this wasn’t a bit deal, there were no wash cloths and only body wash so I had to purchase this stuff separate. The doors did not muffle sounds so anything I did or others did was very clear in the hallways and constant banging of doors or loud talking in the halls. The kitchen was extremely messy and the single small refrigerator was packed. Tiny tv I couldn’t see from my bed. Light was shining in the windows the whole night. It was clean and adequate for my short trip by myself, but sadly will not get a room here again
