Terrible experience- Told there was no WIFI on arrival.( the 4g is non existent in that area) - should have said WIFI issues on the website or pre warning. The Fire alarm went off at 1am ( there was no fire) - it didn’t stop for nearly an hour, everyone waited in the cold for it to be fixed. Wouldn’t stay again

When I arrived for checkin, I was informed that the WiFi wasn’t working and when I got to the room, there was no cell signal either. To make matters worse, the fire alarm went off at around 1am and we were made to stand outside for over an hour, whilst the cause was investigated.

We chose it because it was a historic hotel and then found ourselves in a modern outbuilding with a view of the car park where the staff vape. Could have been anywhere! The room was quiet, comfy and nicely decorated. The rest of the building looked rather shabby - the lift sounded like it was on its last legs, the corridors need a deep clean to remove the visible dust layers from the panelling. Weirdly they did not charge us on arrival or at the end, but halfway through our second night which caused a declined transaction and alert on our credit card. Thanks for that! Would not return here.

Hotel is lovely, staff are very friendly and attentive. The room was very warm when we arrived in December but the windows could be opened and air con could be turned on. A fan was also provided (that doubled as a heater). My main concern about returning is the street noise - mainly sirens every so often kept me awake until shortly after 3am. Do note this was a Saturday night and we'd came back late around half past midnight anyway.

Staff were great but the room in the loft was an absolute disgrace, we complained and got a proper room in the annex which is what you're website displays, being greeted with the first room after a long journey is not on and why I couldn't recommend this hotel at all to stay in, be aware of what I say and book elsewhere.

The hotel overall looked good. Especially the communal areas. Bar - restaurant- reception. Bedrooms were a little warm. Bedrooms and hallways were a little tired But overall a very nice stay. Staff were very friendly

Paper thin walls - so very noisy, especially when next door arrives at 2:30am and has an hour long conversation on speakerphone. The bar was also trying to close at 21:30 ! However the room was clean but dated with a rotting bathroom door. You expect more from a fairly pricey hotel.
