Attentive staff and well appointed rooms with many amenities on site for relaxation. Views are incredible. Best gym, sauna and pool we saw while in Italy. Go into town for food though; it very very pricey at the hotel compared to local restaurants. Ride up the coast to Recco for uncrowded beaches and the best street food and gelato. Be prepared to walk as in any place in Italy, but especially at the coast it is not flat!

From start to finish our stay at the Excelsior Palace was incredible. The property is beautiful. The staff is friendly, helpful and welcoming, and all the amenities are incredible. The breakfast was wonderful and every detail of our stay was perfect. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone I know and hope that we are lucky enough to come back one day.

So rarely do you actually get a 5 start hotel that actually lives up to that accolade, but this one does. Room and property was beautiful, breakfast and bar lovely but the staff throughout excelled and actually made the 5 star service you would expect. From check in, to bar staff, restaurant and room maids everyone made you feel welcomed with so many little extras to spoil you and make your stay that little bit more special. Truly an excellent stay. Thank you so much.

Hotel was extremely underwhelming. I travel 9 months out of the year so I am a pretty good reviewer. Hotel was extremely old and smelled of it. Staff was not friendly (minus 2 very good staff members) but overall experience is as not good

Noise as the bar is close to the bedrooms. Very hard to get to the city from and to the hotel as we have to walk up and down a lot. No shuttle service for the hotel gate to the reception. Breakfast bar is poor for a 5 hotel start and to the cost. Cheap Nescafé in the room not even a proper coffee maker. Lights in the balcony turn off at 2:30am which is too late. No proper noise policy for guests to respect.
