It’s ok for the price

It’s okay for the price. Reception staff very friendly. Big and spacious hotel. Negative points: WiFi very weak- could not have an important video conference call. Also smart tv not connected to internet is a bigger. Housekeeping basically not existent during my 5 night stay. Breakfast quality pretty poor. Food was cold, bacon horrible. However it was free, so I guess you get what you pay for.

Staff was amazing and a shout out to Maxine for all her helpful insight on nearby locations and places to see as well as charming us a breakfast. Reception was also incredible and so very accommodating.The only reason for a 4 star is it would have been lovely to have a bar fridge in room. Highly recommend! Rooms were clean and stocked.

Booked this as a stop over whilst attending an event at Sheffield arena. The hotel seems to be undergoing a rolling restoration which was documented in the booking info, the room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed however we where on the main road side and there is a lot of road noise which the double glazing doesnt seem to block out. Breakfast was ok but the service was poor there arent enough tables for the amount of guests at the hotel and there seemed to be one young man running about trying whilst a couple of what looked like managers just wandered about. Overall given the price which included breakfast it was a reasonable stay but could do better.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn. There was a musty smell though throughout the hotel , I know they are undergoing a refurb, so that may be why. Breakfast was amazing.

The staff were brilliant and extremely attentive- the poor review is not a reflection on their efforts as they sorted every issue out quickly and kindly and we thought they were great. but the hotel carpets were filthy everywhere through corridors and there were so many stains in our room. No hand wash/ shower gel or shampoo in our room (apparently stolen by last guests?!) no hot water in the sink, and the breakfast room was painfully awkward and dull- currently in what feels like a conference room? needs some music perhaps for some atmosphere? None of the tables were clean so we had to sit on the least dirty table covered in crumbs. Food selection was good, but quality poor. There was no coffee besides some instant sachets, which feels unacceptable for a breakfast buffet. Other holiday Inn express' at the same price have been much different quality.

Disappointing

We sadly was disappointed with this Holiday inn Express. Room smelt musty and carpet not clean. Foot prints in bathroom (not ours) shower head leaked more water and where you turn it on. Breakfast was disgusting, sausages white, bacon very pale. No proper coffee machine. We should of been warned before booking that the hotel was having a refurb and that they had no proper kitchen/dining area. Other Holiday inn express we have stayed at rooms and breakfasts been 5* so we was shocked by this one sadly. On a plus the staff are extremely friendly and give a lovely welcome.
