This “Resort” is a facade. Looks nice on the outside, for the most part, but everything else is crumbling. When we first opened the door to our room, there was an overwhelming smell of mold. Each time you left and re-entered, the smell hit you. The carpet was filthy. My grandsons feet were black after walking around it. The bathroom is so small you can hardly sit on the toilet and close the door. The furnishings are old. They put a sloppy paint job over wall damage. We discovered our door could be opened from the outside without using the card to unlock it. Alerted the front desk through text they asked me to respond to. They quickly sent someone down to fix it, but we discovered the next day you could still turn the handle and get in. I also alerted them of mold. They offered to come do an inspection and possibly move us, but from what I read, most rooms have the same problem. I developed a sore throat over the course of our four night stay. Returned home and started feeling better. The service in their restaurant inside the lobby is awful. Not the hard working waitress's fault. They schedule her to work alone. We tried to eat dinner there one night, but the entertainment they book inside the lobby is so loud, you couldn’t have a conversation while eating, so we left. The main pool is so hot, it’s almost like being in a hot tub. It was fairly clean, but in need of serious repair. Long story short, I should have read all the horrible reviews before booking Beware!

Disappointing Stay- would Not recommend

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort in South Padre Island and unfortunately, my experience was far from what you’d expect from a reputable resort. Right from the start, the room was not in great shape. Several electrical outlets didn’t work at all, which was frustrating when trying to charge devices. The floors were sticky and dirty — walking barefoot left the bottoms of my feet literally black. The shower had serious drainage issues and pooled water around my feet every time I used it. There was a sticky residue on the table, and some of the lamps were rusty, which gave the room a very neglected feel. It clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned or maintained. On top of all that, the customer service was underwhelming. Calls to the front desk went unanswered multiple times, and when I finally got someone, they didn’t seem very interested in helping. For the price and brand, I expected a much better experience. Sadly, I can’t recommend staying here unless the property goes through serious maintenance and staff training.

Major makeover needed.

No AC in the hallways only in the lobby and your rooms. There are ice machines on each floor however they do not work. The only floor that had ice was on three. If you choose the buffet breakfast, which is $13 a person the food is the same each day and the food was OK. No free coffee in the lobby for guest. You have to purchase at 3:25 a cup? The pools were not kept up. If you stay more than one day, they will come in and make your bed, but that is it. They don’t andd extra towels or extra coffee. If you used it you have to go down to the lobby. They also do not empty the trash cans. The bathroom very small. Have to stand in the tub to open the door to get out not kidding. Phone did not work in the room. Staff was nice, but had nothing to work with. Location is convenient to waterpark.

From the hotel looking dirty, the bath towels are no longer white but they look like they have better days, our first room we got had a leaking ac unit and water seeping out of the floor, the elevator had these horrible jerking movements, restroom floors need better cleaning, and having a huge booger looking thing on the bathroom wall. No security anywhere, the trash at can in the entrance was overflowing. We also had exposed wiring from the ac unit in the room. The bed sheets smelled sour!! Please, don't stay there. We had to leave our vacation early. The receptionist named Gaby seemed care free when we complained.

This “resort” is not worth its price and doesn’t feel/look like a resort. The girls in the lobby are rude and make faces when asked a simple question. The floors in the room felt slippery all the time and extremely dirty. The bed sheets had an old blood stain on it. Behind the bed there’s mold. Bars closed earlier than 11. Good beach access honestly.
