No frills hotel

Overall this hotel worked for the weekend - we only wanted to stay one night in Catalina and most hotels required a 2 night stay. Hotel St Lauren allowed for one night so we went with it. But this is a no frills hotel and they charge pretty crazy prices for what you get. I would pay the extra money and get a balcony - beautiful view and made up for the spartan nature of the rest of the room. I saw into a room with no view and it was pretty depressing looking. Overall I agree with the other reviews but if you only want to stay one night, this is a decent option and I think all the hotels in the area are this expensive. Don’t expect anything fancy.

Solid location. Easily walkable. Rooms are super basic but have everything you need. There was some construction going on across the street. But on the weekend wasn’t too noticeable. Was high season in Catalina so solid bang for buck here if you don’t mind more average room and amenities

Up on the hill with great views, we liked this charming pink historic hotel. Excellent rooftop patio, plus we splurged for a private balcony with ocean views. The amazing views made this an attractive place to stay. AC worked great! Room was good sized with nice storage and large fluffy towels. Bed was very firm. Grocery store just a block away. This is a bit away from the busy shopping streets, but be aware the loud golf carts drive right past the hotel, especially in the evening. From here you can hike to the Chimes Tower.

The hotel’s location was convenient, but the facilities were old and poorly maintained. The hair dryer cord was melted and seemed unsafe, and the reception staff was unfriendly. Overall, the bed and room conditions were disappointing, and I would recommend looking for a different place to stay

Ice machine and water/soda vending machine broken on the 6th floor. We paid $2 and got nothing form the vending machine. No light in the walk in closet. The door in the bathroom and walk-in closet close automatically and can't be left open which is inconvenient. Noisy and very old A/C. Tiny travel blow drier. No fridge. Great balcony on the 6th floor.

Depressing hotel

Depressing Hotel. The rooms feel like a cross between a Half-way house & a shelter for battered women. Bare-boned, stark, & sad. What furniture exists is mismatched, bought from a garage sell, or donated. No art, empty walls. Management is clearly coasting on the bare minimum. Think worse than a Motel 6. Staff was nice.
Pretty sure they just took that chair from a church.
This is the party corner.
Squeakiest bed in the world.
Functional. That's the nicest word I can think of.
