The staff was great! We had booked one night through Cheap Tickets and needed to add on another night, but there were no rooms available on CT. So I called and the girl at that desk was able to do a separate reservation and made sure the rest of the staff new we had two different reservations but were the same ppl. The room was very clean and it looks like they tried to do a renovation as the counter and shower stall had granite, but the tile floor was old and out dated. Also - there must have been flooding from the room above because the ceiling looked like it had lots of water damage - dry wall needs redone. The AC worked great and the room was very clean. It was really noisy at night. You could hear all steps of the people above us. The breakfast was EXCELLENT. There were all kinds of options. Great protein choices. One day it was scrambled eggs and sausage links. The next day was cheese omelets and bacon. Of course there were also other options like cereal, oatmeal, bagels, pancakes, etc. Overall, I would stay here again.

Good stay

Clean room, but shower curtain pole wasn’t installed correctly, so water went everywhere. Cute room decor for area. Nice pool, but it didn’t have lights, so it was dark. The hot tub changed colors, which was fun, but odd. Nice front desk ladies.

Wonderful Stay – Great Staff & Family-Friendly Experience We had an amazing stay at Holiday Inn Express Cortez during our road trip, and I truly can’t recommend it enough. The staff was fantastic throughout — attentive, kind, and always willing to help. We were traveling with our 5-month-old baby, and they went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. A special shoutout to the front desk staff at check-in — especially the Indian gentleman who welcomed us. He was incredibly helpful, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed, including an extra bed for our baby. That kind of care really stood out. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we loved that the hot bath was available until midnight — it was a perfect way to relax after a long day of travel and exploring. Breakfast was also great overall. The Day 2 breakfast server deserves a big shoutout — she was proactive, kept everything clean and well-stocked, and made the morning feel welcoming. However, the Day 1 breakfast server seemed visibly irritated even with basic requests like refilling the pancake mix — a small hiccup in an otherwise fantastic experience. Every interaction with the front desk during our stay was pleasant and helpful. The team here really understands hospitality. We will absolutely stay here again if we’re ever in the area. Highly recommended for families and travelers alike!
