We had a nice stay, staff were friendly polite and attentive. However the building its self is looking tired, carpets in hall ways had many stains. The room was sufficient but dated. Shower was powerful. Bed was comfortable, plenty of tea and coffee to enjoy. The room needed decorating, odd bits painted near the ceiling, some in grey against the white started not finished. Wall paper coming off the wall. Lamp shades dented. Window broken Housekeeping could be better back of bathroom door filthly from hands and light switches dirty. This may sound picky but for £165 for the night i feel i have the right to be. As this was not a cheap stay. Breakfast was very nice plenty of choices which was a buffet style.

Room was clean but very tired and unappealing in the way it was presented. A green light (linked to emergency lighting I suspect) lit up the whole room for the night which wasn't good for sleeping.

In terms of value for money absoutely terrible. This one superb hotel has not had a penny spent on it in 40 years and is in in shocking condition. Add to the fact that we had no running water for a portion of our stay and the manager hid away rather than face the guests and couldn't authorise any refunds...

No water

Cannot believe this hotel continued to book guests in,even though they had no water the night before,we had no water last night and upon complaint were given a jug of water to brush our teeth etc.There are many problems with this hotel and i would not visit again.£150 for one night stay in a grotty room with no water,how can this be right,think they should pay compensation for lack of care but i know they wont ,total rip off .

DONT GO THERE!! Worts ever! I have several years traveling and this by far is one of the worst terrible experience!! First time I went I rent the room with no window it was the only one available and I arrive late. But the meaning of no window means no air. The fan they had where super small and don't work, They give me other one at dint work neater. That rooms should be illegal! And when I complain the answer was that I get what I pay for. But I pay about $140 so is not that I pay cheap. Then this second night I decide to give other try, I went to the hotel and saw the room before book it considering my pass experience, so I went saw it and was ok, no great with window but still super hot but well last minute stay is ok. I book it went to the room and it was no water!!! Lol So they rent me the room know that the hotel had a water problem and it was no water. They should tell me that so of curse I will not book it, the manager in the ninth it was extremely rude and worth customer service! At the end he said will give me a refund, let's see if I will get it! They dont apologies or at least give a discount or anything!! So they pretend I pay for the room, without can shower, wash my hands anything!!! Is many other hotels way better in the same area for less or same price. Again HORRIBLE!! Sent waist your time and money with them.

The lift was broken most of the times and when it worked, it was noisy/scary when stopping. The staff lift area was dirty and horrible. The staff, with the exception of one or two individuals, did not know how to treat the guests and were downright rude. I will not go there again.

The staff were very nice, but the hotel room was so difficult to stay in because of the heat... There wasn't any AC and they only supplied one small fan. I managed to acquire another from the lobby, but still the room was absolutely baking hot. I was thinking about sleeping outside on the sea front at one pojnt. Also, the breakfast was not worth the money unfortunately... Fruit juices were all concentrated, only tinned fruit available, except for a few slices of watermelon... basically, you got the idea that every corner was cut with regards to quality, which is a shame as the hotel os a classic and has potential... They did have paid parking though, which was £8 per day, which is cheaper than the street. I would have been ok with all of that though, if it wasn't for the insane heat of the room. The outside was actually very cool, but the inside was soo hot.
