Location fantastic

Huge hotel opposite Kyoto Station with a view of the many Shinkansens pulling in and out of the station. Surprisingly quiet Miyaka Hotel was clean, well appointed and staff informative. Kyoto being a major city, was busy! A concentration of tourists meant planning early to beat the crowds. I mean really early! Restaurants in abundance at Aeon Mall beside the hotel or across the road at The train station.

Room was okay. There was a sewer smell in the bathroom almost at all times. The water would also switch from hot to cold while taking a shower. Would rate this as a 3 star rather than a 4 star hotel

Easily accessible to kyoto station within 5 mins walking distance. Quick and Easy check in and check out process at the lobby kiosk. Luggage delivery service is also available at the hotel. Rooms were spacious and clean. Great and comfortable stay! 😉

Convenient Modern Hotel in Kyoto

Miyako Hachijo is conveniently located across the road from Kyoto Station and the surrounding area is a food paradise! Lots of restaurants cafes and eateries just across the street from the hotel. Also convenient to take the train from Kyoto for day trips to different tourist areas. Kyoto Station however is huge and spread out with many exits, which can be confusing! The hotel uses a machine for check-in and check-out which is rather impersonal but efficient. Unlike the smaller boutique hotels in Kyoto, Miyako Hachijo is a rather large hotel, full of tour groups, and the hotel lobby and lifts can be crowded at times. Room design is modern, comfortable and fairly spacious. Enjoyed staying at Miyako Hachijo in Kyoto for its convenience and location. Will stay again!

The checkin service was horrible. Waited in line for staff checkin, when it’s our turn he asked me to checkin via their machine. The machine only had a sign for checkout. When I went there another staff saw me but went to help someone else. So did myself and changed the instruction in English. First it won’t read one of our passports so staff took our passport to photocopy. Then it won’t accept card payment for the city tax (only accepts cash). The staff then tells me I have to manually checkin if I want to pay card and have to go back to the line. At this stage we are tired and wasted a lot of time. I would’ve rated the hotel higher if it werent for this experience

Great location and reasonable pricing, and the staff was very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Unfortunately, the positives stop there. The hotel promotes itself as environmentally friendly by only cleaning rooms on request or after three days. While I support sustainability, I was shocked to find the floor sticky upon arrival—as if it hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guest. I had to use a towel to mop it up, and it turned black with dirt. That level of cleanliness is simply unacceptable. To make things worse, the room had no blackout curtains and not even any sheer privacy curtains. That meant both morning light and the view from neighboring buildings came straight in, which made relaxing in the room uncomfortable. A disappointing experience overall. I wouldn't stay here again.

Great location. Short distance to Kyoto Station. Easy access to facilities and restaurants. Room was good size. We had three beds plus a day bed. Bathroom was small. No onsite coin laundry though. Extra 600 yen per person for tax? I was not made aware of this charge.

We stayed here one night while in Kyoto & Osaka. Wish we booked our 2nd night here. It was a nice size room, was across the street from the Shinkansen and easy to get to all the places we wanted to visit by foot. Staff was great and they held our bags after check out so we could continue to explore Kyoto!

Even thou the hotel is made of plastic, bathrooms are all made of plastic which feels very odd, its still very good hotel for its price. Convenient location, easy and quick checkin and sheckout. Kyoto station is across the road. Staff is very polite and speaks English good enough and they have luggage dispatch service. Would i stay there again? Probably not, the only thing i missed there is onsen:) after hotel with wonderful onsen in Tokyo, my next choice would be hotel with onsen. I wouldn't imagine myself loving onsen thay much before i booked this one. So next time..

Bedroom size is good and clean. The Japanese toilet is top of the notch. Bedroom lighting has various parts of control - foot, bed, room. It offers various types of connectors to recharge your devices. My room has a view to the Kyoto station. The location is super convenient.
