nice place! perhaps we just got lucky but our room seemed recently renovated. I agree, perhaps the one downside is that the floors are carpet, but it didn't really bother us. It seemed to be in a safe neighborhood and had free covered parking which also seemed to be safe/protected. We'll be back to this place when visiting LA!

I really loved the vibe at this hotel. It was really central, had great wifi and was very chill. It was a quick drive to the fun sites to visit and close to my business appointments. The only thing that detracted from the experience was that the cleaning products used gave me a bad headache. I couldn't stay too long in the room as a result. Open a window and you should be fine! I would visit again, but would open the window or crank the a/c to circulate the air.

Thin walls. Smoke smell. Angry guests.

Checked in. The put us in a ro that was already occupied. I went back to change. The put us one floor up. The walls are thin, the floors thin. We checked in at 9pm. Walked in side. Put our bags down. Immediately the front desk called saying the people below complained of stomping and jumping around. I then left to get a snack at a local store. 5 minutes after I came back a very Loud angry woman came and pounded on my door screaming that we were disrupting her. I can guarantee we weren’t doing anything out of the ordinary. We just got done driving 8 hours. Also, People smoke on a patio set in the open hallway and the smoke drifts into your rooom. Happened 3 times.

Clean, Comfortable rooms. The first night I was there I was in a room right next to a major road which was very loud. I spoke to the manager and he moved me to another room for the remainder of my stay, which I appreciated. Price was fair and was conveniently located.

The area is highly affordable, good neighborhood near nice houses ,providing secure parking in a gated location, offering peace of mind for vehicle safety. The room was clean and equipped with a heater, air conditioning, and a small mini fridge. Guests can access amenities on the first floor such as microwaves, an ice machine, and a snack machine. Overall, I felt safe both while sleeping and when leaving my car parked .

Dunes Inn is well located to move around the Hankock Park area. There ar no bedside lamps in the rooms. All lights are LED white, making the lighting too harsh. The towels are clean but thin.

For what it is -- Sparse, clean, safe, inexpensive

If you want gleaming marble and chrome and a dining room and a big lobby for socializing, this ain’t your place. It feels like (probably is) a 1950’s-1960’s L.A. motel. No dining room. Small lobby. No coffee in the room. But the neighborhood is safe (more residential and not jumpin’ with restaurants but that’s okay) and very convenient to both downtown and the various museums, attractions and neighborhoods on the western part of the city. Wilshire is a major street that goes from the coast to downtown, lots of buses to downtown and to the western neighborhoods, (West LA/Beverly Hills, the coast, etc.) and there is a train station about ten minutes walk away to downtown. I found it easy to get around without a car or calling Uber/Lyft much. And it is very clean. That is very important to me. The room was fine, not cramped, recently remodeled, bathroom fine. Overall, if you are not traveling with a family and planning to hang around a lot in the motel, this place is excellent for sleeping and getting around. It is a hotel – not like a skimpy hostel. And the room was clean and the bed was fine. And less than $100/night. So if this is the kind of place you are looking for (I was) it earns a full five stars from me.
