The hotel is directly across the street from Gare St. Charles, which makes it very convenient both for arriving by train (or on the train from the airport) and for catching the Metro for getting around Marseille. The area has a grocery store as well as some restaurants and cafés and is a short walk or Metro ride to a number of destinations. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable.

Basic but good for station

Terrible check in at midnight after a 15 hour journey. Line of strange guests buying take out coffees and the sole reception guy had to serve them. Bizarre. Check in guy decided he’d speak to me in pigeon English. It didn’t work. We spoke French was fine. Breakfast was basic but fresh and fine. Second stay here. Will stay again if need a bed near the station overnight. No good for more than 1 night.

We should not have booked a hotel near the train station. We felt unsafe in the alleyways and streets around the hotel. There are no French restaurants in the area because the restaurants reflect the diversity of people who migrated to Marseilles.
