The facilities in this hotel are in disrepair. I stayed in two different rooms, and both had leaking showers. The décor is extremely old and worn out, and there’s a noticeable smell of marijuana in corridor and room.

Amazing took my son for his 15th birthday and all of the staff greeted him everyday he made friends with everyone he was so happy to see everyone in the lobby when we would leave or come back to the hotel!! Super close to everything barely had to use any transportation.

The facilities are too old, not clean, no heating, shower faucet is complicated, the reception staff’s attitude are very bad ( referring to the two male staff).

Staying here was a nightmare!

The single worst hotel stay ever! Door bolt missing so had to prop ironing board against door at night to try to secure room. Peeling paint and wallpaper in very tiny bathroom and room.. Window shade did not function. Heat couldn’t be turned on as management said it wasn’t cold enough out for heat to work even though it was 48 degrees outside at night. Two cockroaches in bathroom. This hotel may have a nice lobby and location but staying here was a total nightmare. Never again!

I enjoyed my stay. Great location my room was atvthe bach of the building had no view but was quiet at night except for the very noisy HVAC that ran 24 hrs a day and had no control panel. The shower leakedand dripped, windows were filthy, strange stains on the curtains, peeling paintwork and damaged woodwork on the bathroom door etc,etc,etc. The property is in need of refurbishment. Every time i went to reception there people complaing about poor heating, cooling or cold showers.

Disappointed by the Empire Hotel NYC—Style Over Substance I arrived at the Empire Hotel NYC hopeful for a classic New York experience, but unfortunately, my stay fell short. Upon check-in, I overheard another guest voicing concerns, which gave me pause—but I proceeded anyway. The room I was given was a major letdown: it smelled damp, felt stale, and the air conditioning barely worked, leaving the space uncomfortably warm. I returned to the front desk and politely requested a room change, but they were fully booked. Thankfully, the staff were courteous and professional, and they agreed to cancel my booking without penalty. While the front desk team handled the situation well, the overall experience was marred by tired, neglected rooms. I couldn’t shake the feeling that appearances mattered more than fairness—better dressed guests seemed to receive better accommodations. It felt like a case of judging books by their covers. The hotel may still be riding on its pop culture fame from Gossip Girl, but it’s time the rooms matched the reputation. Sadly, I won’t be returning.
