Check in was not accommodating. I paid for Standard Room, 1 Queen Bed. He gave Standard Room 1 Double Bed, no blackout drapes, no chair because the room was small. I needed a chair so I can do my work. The room was cold even when I put the thermostat to the highest temperature. There was draft by the window. I had to put towels to control the draft. I reported to the receptionist who assigned me to the room ASAP that I paid for Queen Bed, was showing him my receipt, he told me that was Queen Bed by their standard. I did not argue. I have queen beds in my house I know the difference. Just for your information for your other customers.

Staff was excellent and rooms were very clean, which is what is the most important for me. It could use some updating and repairs. There is no ice or water in rooms but asking at the front desk and bottled water is given to you. The location was excellent as our activities centered around Lincoln Center which was across the street. It was also convenient to other locations of interest. I would stay again but would like to see more amenities such as ice,water,and coffee offered.

I will preface this review by stating the staff was wonderful and did the best they could. Valet was easy to use and quick to get our car to the front when needed. The front desk staff, managers, and maintenance staff were helpful and kind. We ended up leaving a night early due to issues with our room door. Our keys stopped working and we had to have staff let us in (pry the door open) each time we left. Our trip was very short and that took a lot of time away from visiting with family and friends, and just all around inconvenient. The lobby and halls smelt as if the sewer was backed up. Although the rooms didn't have a strong smell, waiting in the halls to be let in the room was even more uncomfortable due to this. The room was clean and a good size with enough space for our things without feeling cramped.

Context: Express room (trust me, don’t). It was dated and too small for a petite person. More on that later. Scuffs on baseboards/doors and smears on the wallpaper. Not sure what the deal was with temp control in the room because one minute freezing and the next blazing hot. The thermostat appeared to be a replacement? Dangling off of what looked like something from 1975. Room advertised as having a desk and chair, but … no chair to be had. Shower drain super slow. Front desk was meh, doing their jobs vibe. All good. The room size remains the star of the show. I am a petite person and was struggling the point of laughter to use the restroom. Your knees hit the door if you are on the toilet and trying to close and getting out offers up more hilarity. Let’s say closet. Seriously, anyone over 5 foot tall might get trapped. No room service or food options (grab and go) outside on site restos. Not even coffee in the room. What went well? The rooftop bar. Food was amazing. I had one of the best skirt steaks ever with a kiss of charcoal. Yum. Very kind bartenders. The other resto serving up Mexican was incredible. My elevator buddy raved about the gelato too. Location is perfect. There’s a lot of potential in this place. Someone needs to lean in and fix those rooms. It would be a shame for it not to see its full potential.

The staff here were awesome and you can’t beat the location if you have business at Lincoln Center. However, the bathrooms are the classic NYC size (tiny) and had some deteriorating plumbing and fixtures. The sinks are so badly designed they spray everywhere. It works for what it is, but the only reason they can charge so much is because of where it is.

We have loved staying at the Empire over the past 40 years. The location is perfect! However, the hotel is becoming more rundown as the years pass. I wrote this in a review last year, and our visit last night was even more disappointing. The carpet was damp, and the control panel for the heat/AC was dangling outside of the unit hanging by a wire, unscrewed to anything. Plugs are behind desks and end tables. Who want so to get ontheir hands and knees to access them? The bathroom wall paper and molding is filthy, rotting, and coming apart from the wall. The only saving grace is that it's across the street from Lincoln Center. Very sad to see this icon of a hotel fall into such disrepair.

Great location. Staff was very nice.room definitely needs some work. Wallpaper was peeling, tears n the carpet, electrical burns on an outlet, doors to closet were broken. Lots of little things that really need to be fixed. Great location - would possibly try again but would also look elsewhere.

M was excellent. My father had a medical emergency and the staff was so helpful and kind. Thanks again to M at the front desk and everyone else. Loved this hotel will be back.
