Over the past twenty years we reckon we have stayed at the Espy about 15 times. We are not going to bother again.The Hotel is tired and rough around the edges. The bars are good and the food is okay but the corridors leading to our room were dirty and really off putting. Thankfully our room was clean but outdated. All a bit sad. We loved staying there in the past but looks like we will be looking further afield for our next visit.

The hotel is well situated and enjoys nice views of the park in front. The exterior of the hotel suggests a grand old hotel, but unfortunately the interior fails to match. Whilst the foyer is nice enough, the rooms are very tired and dated. During our stay, there was evidence of decorators working to freshen up the rooms, but left a strong smell of paint. I think that more than a lick of paint is required, as the bedroom furniture and bathrooms were long past their best.

The property is in need of some maintenance and repairs. The location is great facilities are good. Our room was comfortable but the bathroom ceiling was mouldy, carpet needed vacuuming cobwebs rust and lots of cracks outside on balconies and verandahs. Just needs some TLC Didn't receive anything much for being a vip hotel.

Nice location - close to lots of restaurants, bars and shops as well as the harbour. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are a bit tired - there was a used bandaid stuck to the bathroom floor from previous guest (was kinda camouflaged from the tiles) and there was no complementary water bottles in the room so we had to walk 10 mins to find a 7-11 to buy water. Beds were comfortable and I liked the streaming function option on the tv.

Rip off breakfast!

The hotel was lovely but!!!,, on check out the bill for breakfast was not what we were expecting! We were told the breakfast was $29 when checking in and again going in to breakfast, we stayed. For 5 days twice in 6 weeks , was told special guest rates, but on 2nd check out was then found out that it was per person making the breakfast $58 per day! Very sad , a rip off ! Yes it was a lovely breakfast but at that price it should be! Please tell everyone that it’s per person,

Great Venue, Great Location

We had a great time during out 3 night stay at The Esplanade, it is a beautiful building with lots of choice as far as spending time in the bars, restaurants or poolside. The room was stock standard, nothing over the top special, but the bed was very comfortable, it was very roomy. I liked the option to not have the room serviced in exchange for a credit on stay, what a great incentive and makes perfect sense. The bathroom shower floor looked like it needed a good scrub but other than that room was clean. I also liked the Chromecast option on the TV, this gave us the freedom to watch anything that we had access to on our phone, great idea. Location is brilliant and very close to everything.
