Air conditioning in the room didn’t work right. No wash cloths, 1 hand towel, no soap or conditioner. Bed was like sleeping on wood. For a “resort” this is unacceptable. Pool water was clean and clear, but it had significant dirt at the bottom. Buffet ended at 6pm at the main restaurant by the pool. Smaller bar food menu was limited. Won’t be coming back here!

Great views, could be better

Excellent views, food options are lacking as only one basic buffet for all meals and very limited choices. It could be so much more with the fantastic views. Our unit was a good size but was located far away from main pool and restaurant which is not what I expected, it was infested with ants and cockroaches. We had ants in our king bed!!! Service was great when we told them and came out right away to spray unit but never should have happened in first place.

Our stay at this resort was a mix of convenience and frustration. While the property offers a beach shuttle and attentive restaurant staff, its aging infrastructure and management shortcomings significantly impacted our experience. The most pressing issue was the lack of water in our room upon arrival. Initially assured of a room change within 15 minutes, we waited over an hour with no update. A follow-up call revealed that the entire hotel was without water, with promises of a quick resolution. Hours later, the system was reportedly restored, yet water pressure remained so low that showering was impossible, and even flushing required lengthy waits. The next morning, we were told a manager would be available at 9 AM, only to be informed they were unavailable on Sundays. After repeated inquiries, we were finally moved to another room by 2 PM, but the disruption had already taken a toll. Initially considering a hotel switch, we hesitated based on assurances of improvement—only to find alternative accommodations had surged in price. The breakfast buffet, while adequate, was repetitive, offering the same selection daily. Bar offerings were unremarkable, though restaurant staff provided consistently warm service. While a dinner voucher was offered as compensation, it did little to offset the inconvenience. Until management prioritizes transparency and service reliability, this resort falls short of expectations.

We stayed for just one night before leaving for the airport in one of the upper rooms way up on the hill. The room was very small and the only way to leave it was to wait for a shuttle to come by. It is too steep to walk down and the road too narrow. So it felt confining to be up there. Later in the evening after dinner we had to wait for over 45 minutes for a shuttle to take us back up the hill. The pool areas and bar/restaurant were nice and typical of a large resort of this type.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at this resort and we had an absolutely excellent time. The location is stunning, and our premium ocean view villa was a perfect choice for travelling with our three boys (two university aged and on reading break as well as our 13 year old). We chose the all inclusive option (after much debate based on some of the reviews) and are so happy we did, the food was amazing! Definitely a quieter resort with a very laid back atmosphere and we really enjoyed both the staff and all of the other guests we met. The resort has less of a commercial feel and provides more of an authentic Costa Rican experience. We booked a few offsite activities, one of which was surf lessons in Tamarindo, definitely a highlight of our trip! We also enjoyed the use of the kayak and paddle board, but note that they are only available for use between 9:30 and 11:30 and never had any trouble booking (just mentioning this for planning purposes). It may also be of note when booking a tour to make sure that one of the guides speaks English if you do not speak Spanish. We booked a snorkeling excursion and we’re lucky enough to have a local couple on the tour that were able to translate for us. It is also very easy and inexpensive to head into Coco Beach for a bit of night life if you wish or to shop and explore for the day. While the shuttles are a great option to get to the beach, my preference was to walk and sneak a stunning hike into the day. Perfect stay!!!

It was a fine stay. Great location and fine facilities. For the price I think the hotel could use a renovation. It looks like over the years a few things broke and were never replaced. However the staff was very friendly.

OK Except the Scorpion in the Shower

Per many reviews, the location is good but the place is worn and dated. Cleaning staff was consistently great. Other staff was either great or poor, depending on who you worked with. We had challenging travel due to weather, and they were flexible and accommodating - except for going dark during the day we we arrived and were trying to arrange a shuttle. Only buffet food on site, but 3-5 good options along the beach. Breakfast buffet (included) was good with reasonable options - we did not try lunch or dinner as we we are vegan/pescatarian and there were no fish options. Resort is not really on the beach, and shuttles were frequently hard to find - steep hills make walking a challenge unless you are up for it. Oh - and we had a scorpion in our shower one day. Was small and curled up when I scooped it out of the shower - then realized what it was after tossing it outside and it opened up (!) (see pic). Staff seemed unconcerned as I had already taken care of it. So - overall a mixed experience. Would definitely spend a bit more and stay true beachfront next time.

Beautiful view. Enjoyed the pool and restaurant but was only there for one night. Was too far away without a car and no taxis in town. Patio door wouldn't lock and 2 racoons got into the room that night. Paid $30 ea. for the dinner buffet and it was good, but would be boring night after night.

Reception check in to check out, the staff was very friendly and they offer a variety of activities daily. The transportation was a bonus and if you catch a gentleman driver by the name of Errol, know he is the BEST and actually his demeanor and genuineness made the resort better! It's a resort, I get it... but the amount of people at the beach entrance trying to sell you something was a tad ridiculous. Very safe grounds and never felt like there was a safety issue. The cats and raccoons might catch you off guard, but while the cats are friendly, be sure to lock your room at night as those raccoons can open the door! Great tourist place/resort to stay if that's what you are looking for.
