The rooms at Pala were a highlight — clean, spacious, and comfortable, though a bit on the dark side. The setting overall is very nice, and the service was good. The staff members were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which made a positive impression right away.
That said, there were some drawbacks. The biggest issue was the significant road work near the entrance, which caused us to wait an hour just to get into the hotel. Since there’s only one road in and out, it made the situation even more difficult. I understand this was outside of the resort’s control, but it would have been helpful if guests had been notified in advance so we could plan accordingly.
The location itself is also very isolated — there’s really nothing around, and you need to drive at least 15 minutes to get to a town.
The pool was enjoyable, but the fitness center was closed during my stay, and the “Spa” in the name is misleading since it no longer exists. For me, that was disappointing, since I don’t gamble and was looking forward to those amenities. My friends who do gamble had a nice time in the casino, but without a gym or spa, Pala wasn’t the best choice for me personally.
Overall, it’s a comfortable stay if you’re primarily there for the casino or pool, but if fitness, spa services, or easy access to nearby towns are important to you, you may want to consider other options.
