Great room - used the upgrade option. Air con temp a bit tricky to control, be nice to see options for pillows like other hotels do. Opted out of housekeeping in exchange for drink form bar was a nice touch.

Short get-a-way to York

Close walking distance to center of town, many attractions, and rail station. Parked at the local NPC just down the street, 5 mins, nice validation by Hotel. Shower issue, shower wand didn’t work, not sure where that water was going, though they had the rainfall spout. Strange layout of the room, Tv needs to be on a longer extender from the wall and the beds, for me, not that comfortable but the room had a fantastic view of the Minster! Light projection show on Minster our last night as well as the end of the Viking Fest in York!

Poor customer service

Hotel was clean and rooms were lovely and well equipped apart from the lighting was really poor making it difficult to do makeup etc. staff on reception were very friendly but breakfast was terrible. One of our group is coeliac so needed gluten free- this was catered for in as much as they had GF bread but he couldn’t have any black pudding or sausage (which does beg the question why do they ask you to contact them in advance with any dietary requirements which I had done as they didn’t do anything special for him). We waited over an hour to get our breakfast and when it finally arrived the GF one was ok but the other 3 were stone cold so I complained to the restaurant manager who agreed it wasn’t good but wasn’t overly helpful. He asked what I would like him to do and I said I would like a refund of the 3 breakfasts as we couldn’t wait for them to start again. He agreed to do this and I checked with reception on check out and they confirmed he had adjusted the payment. However, it is now nearly 2 weeks since our stay and I still have received no refund. I have telephoned and spoke to reception again who agreed to look into this and call back the next day and still nothing 4 days later. I think the hotel is ok so long as you don’t ask for anything and nothing goes wrong, otherwise hopeless.

Incredible anniversary staycation experience

such an amazing experience for our 2 year anniversary, we were upgraded to the club room and had a stunning view of the city, ruins of the st mary abbey and the minister. We were also given complimentary cocktail vouchers for our anniversary
