Perfect for my 40th birthday with another couple. A bit disappointed with the steak from the steakhouse but the other food options were great. The guys actually took a short excursion to fish and they prepared our caught fish with a special table and dinner for us. Highly recommend that experience! Spa experience was probably the best I've had and the water at the beach was so calm and peaceful. Would suggest bringing bug spray as little tiny flies were annoying and mosquitoes came out towards the evening. Also bring your own snorkel gear. Plenty on snorkeling water, but no equipment on property available. There just isn't a shop on premise for basic essentials. Rooms were spacious, cool and comfortable! Would go back for a long weekend experience with friends!

The property was amazing it was so relaxing and welcoming. All the staff was very helpful except one staff at the buffet was kind of short but other than that all the other staff was wonderful we wanted to take some of them home with us especially Adriana. The staff at the Peruvian restaurant gave us the best service we have ever had at any restaurant. We went there on our anniversary and had such a special intimate time. I plan to go back. We really wanted to call out the Peruvian staff by name because they were so wonderful and we lost the card that had their names on it. We stayed September 13th through the 21st so it should be pretty easy for the resort to figure out the wonderful staff that we had. I hope all of the staff gets paid very well as it was superb service.

Every room in the facility has an ocean view. I've stayed here numerous times and it never disappoints. They are consistently upgrading and improving the property. The staff is amazing. I've never had a bad experience here. If I could give them 10 Stars I would.

The best thing is the ocean view and the magic of Akumal bay . It is quiet and safe . The staff working for over 10 years in this resort are very nice and helpful . The new hires kids from the block not so helpful . The food : bufet dinner and lunch not great . Too much cheap Chinese rice food , cheap paella, cheap pizza , cheap gelatin deserts. It used to be amazing Mexican fresh authentic food ten years ago .

I went to snorkel with the many turtles that were supposedly there.(Akumal- place of the turtles) Instead the whole area was totally covered in a type of seaweed. Dump trucks and bulldozers worked all day, starting at 6:30 in the morning to clear the beaches.The hotel itself was ok, kind of old and tired. The staff was very good.

Major renovation works taking place. Hard to relax by the pool with constant drilling and banging. Was Not advised of this prior to booking. The room next door to us was also under renovation and work was carried out durning the night past 10pm on two occasions. Balcony door very poor security and left open each day by Housekeeping. Did not work on arrival and a temporary fix was done. Hot tub did not work on arrival also the TV however this was fixed. Hotel is generally nice. Most staff are helpful however a couple of staff give poor service. Good is generally nice.

My kids love Karla in the Kid's Club. I love how friendly everyone is and the renovated room we got in building 3. The sargassum is a problem right now, and there are some renovations causing some noise at the main pool. Also, the gym is currently closed for renovations as well, but the hotel still has the best snorkeling right off the beach that I've seen.

Resort was very average. I chose it because the rating was 9 and it was pitched as a 4-star resort. Not sure how it got either. It's a 3-star at best. I will say it has 2 things going for it: every room has an ocean view; and the staff is generally very nice (albeit incompetent). Buildings 3 & 4, rooms are updated, but still not luxury. Very minimal in terms of amenities. (We used the provided bath salts the first night in the hot tub and they were not restocked by housekeeping, like body wash, lotion and shampoo. No one knew how to get that restocked.) Other building's room are smelly (damp moldy smell) and run-down. The main pool's water has a strange order and is not clean. Food was consistently bad. Very basic for the price paid – cheap and repetitive. Same thing every day on buffet. I typically eat vegan but here that was impossible. I had planned to eat vegetarian, but even that was challenging. Others on the trip had meat, but said it was poor quality, tough. One exception was the pumpkin enchiladas at Alux - those were fantastic. The drinks were the cheapest possible brand. And still diluted. We were told there was branded alcohol like Baileys, Grey Goose, etc. – I even double-checked this before booking -- but nope. In general, when you ask for something, you get passed off to someone else that just runs you in circles. Very frustrating. We asked for a candle once, they said they didn't have one...but every table in restaurants had them. Would not go back.
