The historic property and character is nice, but the room is lacking and sparse. As a solo traveler, I was literally given one towel, one mug, one pillow for a large bed. What if I need to wash the mug to switch between coffee and tea, I don’t even have a towel to do dishes besides the one I used to wash myself with. The outlet in the bathroom is about 6 feet in height for no reason and could be challenging to people like me. The bed was a 2 inch pad on top of a boxspring. For more than one night it may have been a problem sleeping.
On the plus side, the breakfast was excellent, the staff was all very kind, and there is a good amount of character.
On the minus the room is lacking, and they don’t think through the needs of travelers. Many of us were put on the fourth floor and the elevator to that floor was broken, and had to carry our luggage up stairs. The hotel was not full, we didn’t need to be put on that floor without prior notice. There’s also no offer to help with the luggage, which is disappointing.
In summary, if I stay in Flam again, I’ll probably try the other hotel. If I stayed here again, I would call him ahead of time to check on the rooms and the elevator
