A beautiful hotel. The room was lovely, everything was very clean, the pool and spa area were great (we even used the outdoor pool as it was heated!) and the staff were all friendly and very helpful. It was about a 15 minute walk into the very centre of Bath through a nice park and less than 5 minutes in a taxi which we got in the evening. Would definitely recommend.

Nice hotel but some bits not up to standard expect

The hotel grounds are lovely and the building itself looks impressive. The pool area (inside and outside) is pretty tired and needs updating as well as better maintaining. It is lovely for the kids though as they also have all sorts of swimming toys out, which the children can use. The rooms are spacious (we stayed in 519) but the carpet looks pretty tired, too. The beds are comfy, the bathroom is fine. Some parts in the room as well as the breakfast room were very dusty. I could also spot a few hairs in the bahtroom (and on my bathrobe), which I did not like. Breakfast was rather poor for the price. They charge extra for a bit of avocdo or a bit of salmon, which I find inappropriate considering the rooms are over £250 per night. There is also an extra charge for anything other than the standard breakfast tea/ filter coffee.

Lovely hotel little things need looking at

Im a little sad that this amazing building is let down by a few minor things, which considering this is a 5 star hotel is dissapointing. The room: The towel rail did not heat up, one of the electrical sockets in the room did not work. The room otherwise was lovely. The bar: We stayed on wednesday and thursday. When we attened the bar we were dissapointed to find it had run out of most of the beers and baileys. We were informed that they had a wedding the previous weekend. Surely the bar should have been re- stocked. The fire alarm went off 3 times during pur stay, twice after 11pm. Food: The cooked breakfast was not brilliant (apparently it is award winning), and the toast was burnt on both mornings. The location is great for walking around Bath centre. The gardens are amazing too. These may seem silly things but when staying a in a 5 star hotel you expect more and its the finer details that matter.

Disappointed With Hotel

Not a 5 star hotel! Needs alot of TLC inside the hotel, including the spa and swimming pool area. Breakfast was very poor quality and they had run out of bread on our secound morning, so they couldnt offer toast, and on the third morning they had run out of salmon. Gardens of the hotel are kept lovely, credit to the gardener, just a shame the hotel isnt maintained like this. Overall was very disappointed with hotel, but Dispite this we still had a lovely time in Bath

My friend and I spent one night at this delightful hotel, and we absolutely loved it! The pool, the variety of sauna rooms, and the exceptional hydro pool made our stay incredibly relaxing. Our experience at the Macdonald Spa Hotel was nothing short of amazing. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable visit. Our room was spacious, and the bed was extremely comfortable, making for a perfect night's sleep. This hotel was worth every penny, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious and rejuvenating getaway!

Couples night away

Hotel was clean and well equipped. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor pool and sauna/steam room facilities. Check in and out was straightforward. Grounds were lovely. We didn’t have dinner at the hotel but it is well situated and easy walking distance to the centre. Breakfast was disappointing as took over half an hour to come, was not very big (mushroom was only half a slice!) and toast had gone cold as was served when we sat down so had to ask some more. Staff were attentive and professional. Room was a good size and clean, bed was very comfortable, but no control over room temperature and the interconnecting door to the next room meant we could hear their telly and conversation. Overall a pleasant stay.
