The staff were lovely, and yes as other comments have said some of it is in drastic need of a revamp but for a three star I somewhat expected it. It's also a very old building that was obviously never built for this purpose so the maze of corridors adds to the quirks. If you're looking for a fantastic modern hotel, this isn't it. Unfortunately our TV remote didn't work, which they replaced, but then noticed another one poking out from underneath the bed - it did make me wonder how strictly it had been cleaned. Also, the mixer tap in the bath was stuck between the tap and the shower head, meaning you couldn't have one or the other, it was both at once, and because of this a shower was almost impossible as setting the temperature meant I ended up with burnt feet as what was coming out of the tap was hotter than what was coming out of the shower head. Reported to Reception, but unlikely for it to have broken that quickly since the previous occupant so I'm guessing it had been like it for a little while. It was also horrendously hot, and took a while to cool down with the windows open a slight amount due to safety catches (which are fair enough) and two fans brought by housekeeping. We're told the place is in the throws of being refurbished, we'd probably give it a go again on a one night stay as we were this time, but I'm unsure on any longer at present.
