Dublin Weekend Stay
Positives - Location of the hotel was excellent for transport links; Customer service offered by reception staff was great; Bed was very comfortable
Negatives - Shower was ridiculously small, was very difficult to turn around in it; Hardly any channel on the television worked, either had no signal or lost signal; Decor of room was tired and could do with updating
What a wonderful surprise this hotel was! From the pictures, we thought it would be more plain; functional, but not as elegant. I would call its elegance 'simple' but real; likely it was recently refurbished.
It had the most comfortable bed we've been on in a hotel in a long while. And usually at a hotel that is not 'high-end' the bathrooms and the shower tend to feel like afterthoughts. Not here; the shower was good sized, with good water pressure and plenty of hot water, with easy to understand controls. Blackout curtains as well; not a lot of street noise, but the area sees a lot of car traffic during business hours, and the these helped us sleep in when we wanted to.
We loved the neighborhood. Right across from Phoenix Park, and the Criminal Courts building, there were great places to either grab a quick sandwich on the go, or sit down in a lovely pub and enjoy a pint and some good food (Nancy Hands is the one we frequented). Less than five minute walk to the bus stop, and just over five to Heuston station, for the LUAS tram and lots of other busses (in addition to trains leaving Dublin).
Maybe the affordable rates have to do with the fact that it is a little bit outside the 'central' Dublin area, which to us made it so enjoyable. No 'Temple Bar' madness going on; just a good room for a good price in a wonderful neighborhood.
Staff were welcoming and friendly. They gave good recommendations.

Our room was tiny. It barely fit the 2 twin beds. When I was walking through the halls I saw other 2 twin bed rooms and they had soooo much more room. I don’t understand why I’m paying the same price for a 2 twin bed room and I get a way smaller room.
Staff were very nice. Just a little bit salty that my room was a fraction of the size of the other rooms in the same hotel.
This was a cute hotel that served our needs for a reasonable price. Close to the train station and walkable to Dublin area attractions, if you dont mind a little exercise. The lighting is not great in the bathroom and it was a little cold (perfect at night tho!). Breakfast is decent for the price and convenient.

The park was beautiful during the day but felt really unsafe at night. The room was outdated, not like the photos I'd seen before booking. Had some issues with the heating that the staff were quick to help with but the room was too expensive for what it was. I'd recommend spending a few more dollars a night and going somewhere nicer. Had a street facing room and I could hear the crosswalk sign outside all night beeping every couple seconds as well as pedestrians and traffic.
Well, for 130 quid id expect at the very least a bar, restaurant and at the very least a full Irish breakfast in with the price!!!!

Hotel was a very convenient location for the purpose of our trip with good transport links nearby. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and well maintained but soundproofing from room above wasn’t great but to be expected from an older building. No traffic or street noise which was good. Was as expected for the the price and location.
