I came to eastbourne for a funeral. The View hotel was convenient and clean. I t was also quiet and I I couldn't hear the neighbours. have no complaints

What has happened?

We have stayed at The View Hotel for the last 4 - 5 years, in this time we have always enjoyed our stay. The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast is very good indeed. The issue we had this visit was over the restaurant- when we arrived we were told it would be open that evening and then closed - only open for breakfasts but the al la carte menu would be available in the cafe/bar. So next night in we go to find most of the seating was totally unsuitable for dinning as the chairs were too low. We had to request the menu numerous times, then we ordered the pork belly to be told it was not available so we ordered the sea bass, to be told it was not available. The only food available was from the cafe/bar menu, so I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken, thank heavens for the chicken, as it would only have been a small bowl of lettuce otherwise. Disappointed.

Very enjoyable. Lovely spacious room with view over the sea. Would have preferred a less firm mattress. Breakfast well presented and plentiful with a lot of choice but quality of bread and juice could have been better.

I felt that the basic double room without seaview should be less than £100 per night I paid around £125 for it including breakfast. The decor was a little dated and the mattress probably needs changing. Very good water pressure in the shower and the hotel is clean. the gym is good and the breakfast has a wide choice although the food is of average quality but was enjoyable. Location good and daily parking vouchers are available from reception for a couple of quid. There are lots of hotels in Eastbourne and this one is a little tippy. I would come back but only if the price is right.
