At 309 USD per night we were anticipating a very nice experience. After all it was the most expensive hotel of the entire trip. So far it has been the worst. Sewer smell in the room, moldy smell in the bathroom. Small room with no closet and barely any space to put the luggage. No coffee maker, no fridge, you get a couple of powder coffee pouches. The looks of the common areas are nice, building from 1965 without elevator. But the looks of the bathroom is that of an abandoned hospital, the shower is bare concrete walls. Room 301 however offers nice views.

Looks aren’t everything.

The gentleman at the reception was super rude. Rooms were tiny and bathrooms tinier. When we pay close to $600 /night, I think it is fair to expect slightly better than basic. We were happy to stay there for only one night.

This place needs a desperate update. There is a funky smell in the room. The bathroom needs the update the most. The furniture is worn and needs replacing. It’s fine for an overnight stay but anything more I would avoid.

We stayed for one night. There was a small hiccup during our check-in but they made it up to us by offering ua breakfast free of charge. The staff was friendly and the room was large. Note that there is no elevators and you'll have to carry your luggages up the stairs.

Hotel Hofn was a first class experience in every respect. While we found it a bit expensive, it lived up to the price in many ways. The front desk staff was welcoming and highly efficient. The dining room was terrific for dinner, and the breakfast was absolutely first rate. Our room was clean, brightly lit, and quiet. Highly recommend.

Stayed here for one night in July 2025. Room and bathroom are bit small. Seems there is no ventilation in the bathroom because after we take showers at night the bathroom is still very humid in the morning. Had breakfast buffet but the selection is bit limited.

Beautiful quaint town in southern region. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice hotel within easy walking distance of harbour and restaurants. Many hotels in Iceland are overpriced and not good value, this is not one of those.
