Big room but the heating wasn’t working so the room was freezing cold, there was an oil radiator placed under the desk for us to use with a letter apologising left on the desk with a free snack and drink, this consisted of a coffee and some crisps. Apparently 50% of the hotels heating wasn’t working. I didn’t sleep at all as it was so cold.

No heating in the room. Info sheet in room said that heaters were present to provide alternative heating, but none present. On mentioning this to reception, the gent said he’d find some heaters and put them in the room so that the room was warm when we returned from our evening out. This was done, as promised, so a happy resolution. It just took the shine off what I was hoping to be a romantic weekend away. Finally, the only other to ask to be improved was the lighting in the car park. There seemed to be large parts of the car park which had very little lighting.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with family. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was one of the rooms affected by the heating issues but reception provided a small heater to use and we didn't really notice any difference. The hotel is dated but in a good way in my opinion. The design and layout work well and give the hotel a unique charm. Breakfast was great, good variety of food including full english and continental. Although about a 25 minute bus ride out of the city the location was great. We used the cinema and restaurants across the road both evenings. All in all a good stay and I would certainly stay here again. We did have to call reception at 3am on the second night due to a party going on in the next room but thats not really the hotels fault and they did ask the occupants to tone it down.

There were a few problems with heating in the rooms, staffing levels and the hotel needs a some updates to the rooms as they are starting to look worse for wear. On a positive side, the breakfast was very good.
