Rooms are small but nicely furnished. Comfortable bed, bathroom could do with a shelf/storage area for personal toiletries/cosmetics. But would definitely recommend the hotel to friends.

Staff generally good but inconsistent from the waiting staff. We booked for dinner but told them running late by 10 minutes and that was ok , but when we got there they told us to go to the lounge and have a drink we went to a table but told them not wanting a drink prefer to wait for our table. When we said that then the host which saw all this said our table was ready, strange. only other gripes were service charge, for dinner which I also had wine so service charge was £4 but not one glass was poured but a service charge was applied, I got it all removed. I will determine any gratuities. Other slight poor service was at breakfast and plates loaded on our table and the host waiter the only male walked past at least 4 times not even an attempt to pick them up, also no coffee refills unless asked for. In fact from our time at breakfast Sunday he did very little, a couple of nice girls did everything while he stood at his post Overall still a great hotel and lovely staff but the service is down and inconsistent from last visit

Hotel and service were excellent. The breakfast was shockingly stingy. Instead of giving you the whole slice of haggis and slice of black pudding, they gave you half and stuck them together. Also just a dribble of beans. Would absolutely stay again, but not worth £19 for the breakfast

This hotel is fine, it’s comfy, has nice decor and facilities, easy to log your car for the parking. It was in a good location for us. But, the windows sounded like they were paper thin, noise pollution from outside seemed excessive, as did noise from the hallway - felt like other guests in the hall were in your room. Neither are necessarily that different from some other hotels. The reason I wouldn’t use Dakota again is the taking £50 from your account / credit card on check in, then not receiving it back for days. I know other hotels do the same but in my experience it’s a hold on the card / or £0 transaction. Not taking money off you for days in case you happen to place anything on the room during your stay, then not moving it back immediately on check out. That really messes up people’s money and budget when travelling. I’m afraid that’s something I wouldn’t put up with again so will just avoid Dakota. I don’t mind a credit hold or details on file, but don’t lift my money.
