The Elite room I was put in had a stopped up sink, maintenance came up to fix it and said to only use the sink they fixed and not to use the working one because it was now broke. Maintenance said someone would be back at 9am the next day to fix it. When I got back in the evening around 7:30 the door was open and 2 maintenance people were working on the sink. We had dinner reservations at 9pm and couldn’t get ready on our time because they were there. They said it was fixed but now it would back up and spill out of the wall, so it wasn’t fixed. I asked for a room change because I wanted to relax and not wait on maintenance. They happily moved my room to a worse view, a shower with no door and a screw as the lock handle on the sliding door. Aside from the room, the buffet was good, the Elite restaurant had fantastic ambiance but they were unorganized with taking orders and bringing food. They brought our main course out before our appetizers and asked if we still wanted the appetizers. The Elite pool is great and private but it could use music, considering the main pool has music. The 2 female bartenders at the elite pool were amazing! The access to the beach was great and the beach itself was great. For an “Elite” booking it was subpar.

Awesome place to stay at vs every other resort. The fact that there's always food options inside the resort was a plus. Wish they had more options on the liquor but everyone was sweet and respectful

Our stay was absolutely beautiful! The pools, diverse restaurants, and prime location were all fantastic. However, there were a few issues. When we entered our room, we found only two towels, and one of them had makeup on it. Additionally, the spa’s location had been temporarily moved, and the staff was unclear about where we should go.

The food was amazing and the beaches were just what we wanted our issue was our room key. The lock on our door malfunctioned MULTIPLE times and I mean MULTIPLE!! Each time we were told the same thing that we put our keycard near our phone or near our credit cards. Well this was far from the truth, they would reactivate our cards and then send maintenance to our room to redo the door. It would work for approximately 30 mins and then back not being able to access our room. Finally, we asked to switch rooms, great we are going to get another room and not have to deal with that. Then they had us pack everything and we were out of a room for over 3 hours waiting on another one. We basically lost our final to last day waiting around to change rooms. There was absolutely no need for us to go back and forth to the lobby over 7 times to get a room with a working key. I will say the staff we dealt with was very apologetic but it still didn’t help the fact of not being able to access our room. If you are wanting beautiful beaches, good drinks and a nice place to stay this is it. If you do have issues with your room keys, get the staff to come witness it so they do not think you are just making things up.

I feel there was nothing unique about this location. My bathroom wasn’t properly cleaned (I have photos). The liquor in the room was well nothing top shelf. When I asked front desk to take ALL bottles and just give Gin as that is my fiancés favorite drink and I brought him here for his birthday. The pool closed at 6pm, not much entertainment. This is my second RIU experience and it wasn’t pleasant. I will say this RIU had better food than my first location (the palace in DR) but that is it. I wouldn’t recommend this location at all.
