This is a very unusual place! It must have been a home at some point and has been changed to simply bedrooms. Our room was beautiful and well appointed. But there is no lobby, front desk, etc. You simply get a code to get into the building and into your room. It's a little strange but it was fun to try something different.

What a hidden gem! We feel so lucky to have stayed here, from the contactless check in to the lovely gardener! Everything was perfect, we stayed in the dashing wave and the room was beautiful, spotlessly clean, carefully thought out!

Interesting set up with keypad code to access main door and room. Handy car park at rear, need instructions to use tv, clean and modern refurbished room and bathroom with hardly any original features in this old building. We stayed in Cathedral room which is up narrow steep staircase, facing the road. Handy location for Portsmouth with the stress of parking removed.

Very cute and convenient!

Stayed in the Sea Witch for a 25th anniversary getaway. It's a very cute space on the second floor with a great reading nook. It was a pleasant walk (~15min) into the downtown area for shopping and dinner. Owner was very responsible and flexible with our plans. Getty Bagels is 50 yards away and a great option to get a coffee and something to eat in the morning. We would definitely come back.

Exquisite and beautifully maintained garden between the inn and parking lot. Large, well-appointed room needs a dresser ( not just two drawers below the bathroom sink) and a full-length mirror. Lack of innkeeper interaction was unusual.

Our room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. We loved the window seat in the little nook between the bedroom and bathroom. The stairs up to our room were steep and difficult with a suitcase so be warned. The garden area was beautiful.

The room and grounds were beautifully kept. The room was more like a suite. I don't know if they are all like that. We had a private screened in porch with seating, a lovely bedroom area with a King bed and soft. luxurious sheets. There was also a sitting or small living room area with a refrigerator and a beautifully done, renovated bathroom. The Inn was walking distance to the center of town. We highly recommend this Inn. It was a true find.

Amazing garden getaway - will be back

Best vacation spot we have ever been to. The Inn is private, quiet, well designed and cared for. The garden is glorious and was soothing to our city-weary brains. We will definitely be returning to Martin Hill Inn. Portsmouth has so much to offer for a relaxing getaway. I recommend staying at least 3 nights.
