The room was dark, small, and extremely uncomfortable. Not worth the price. Will write a disappointing review on social media when I get home. The staff were generally friendly and tried their best to be helpful, but the reception staff had few ideas about things to do and places to eat.

Our room was very comfortable though a bit "tired". It could have certainly used an update especially the carpet. The complimentary breakfast included many options but it seemed like the staff had difficulty keeping up with demand. (ie. had to request more silverware and coffee)

Quick overnight stay at Hotel Portsmouth. Staff was extremely responsive via text message during our stay. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. Rooms were dark decor but probably this is keeping with colonial period theme decor. Breakfast in morning was nice with fresh fruit - yogurt - oatmeal and pastries. Very walkable to downtown area.

Loved our stay

Absolutely loved this place. It’s like the perfect cross between B&B and hotel. The staff was delightful. We really enjoyed the speakeasy in the basement (hi Jim!). We met so many fellow travelers there. The location is perfect. Portsmouth is a great town, totally walkable, very safe and we can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend staying here
