Family first trip to Iceland

I would like to start off saying that the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to check us in earlier than normal. We had a very early check out and I was happy to see that there was an attendant there at 3am. Our room was nice and we loved the view. However, we were not fans of the size of the bathroom. The shower was very tight space. I had to let the staff know that the door handle and the know in the sink were very loose. We liked the area where the hotel was located. I wish there was hotel parking. We had a good stay.

This is my second review of this hotel. At my last stay I had a good room and nothing really to complain about. This time I was put in the really odd room. I believe the room number was 241, but I could be wrong. It was right next to the elevators, which worried me a little at first, but turned out not to be noisy at all. The weird thing about the room is that there is a huge skylight in the ceiling of the bathroom which wouldn't be an issue if the door to the bathroom was not made out of opaque glass. With June sunlight being almost 24 hours a day, the room stayed bright all night long. I only stayed for 1 night, wasn't really worth asking to change the room in the middle of the night, I would definitely ask for a different room if I was staying longer.

We were put in a room where the ceiling was inches above the head of the bed. This was the roofline of this part of the hotel. Our friends had the room next to us and had no shower, only a very high tub.Of course I smashed my head in the middle of the night. to get to our room, we needed taken elevator to the third floor. Walk down the hall and get into a tiny elevator (2 people only) and for up another floor to the 4th floor. The girls at the front desk pretty much ignore you unless you say "excuse me". The place is a nightmare. I wish I had taken pictures

Our check in was a mess. I had confirmed in advance that we would have 2 beds. Our room did not have 2 beds. The receptionist said she could fix our bed. After she and another employee realized that they couldn’t separate our bed, they started remaking the bed. I walked away and went down to get another room. The 2 girls came running down and then went running up to the next room to separate another set of beds. This was at 7:45pm. After flying all day. No apologies from any of the staff.

Our room was ok. Room location was inconvenient. From the main lobby, take the elevator up to the 3rd floor, walk across the skywalk, take the stair down a floor (carrying all your luggage), go to the end of the building to find your room. The room had French doors with a broken lock that opened to a porch in a courtyard of a Mexican restaurant that played loud music every night. Not a restful quiet experience by any stretch. The hotel is convenient located in the center of town, but no parking. Be prepared to pay a lot of overnight parking and walk several blocks to find a spot.

Booking this property through Expedia was very easy, and questions such as parking were quickly and thoroughly answered by the hotel staff using Expedia’s messaging. Parking out front, even long enough to unload your baggage can be a challenge and expect your parking to be easily several blocks or more from the hotel. There is an easy to use app to handle locating parking options and payment. Staff was efficient during checkin. We may have had one of the nicest rooms in the hotel, eighth floor with a 180 degree view over the waterfront and bay. The room was quiet; your experience may vary depending on your room. Breakfast was decent if unchanging and crowded, not unexpected for a larger busy tourist hotel. Location was great! Easy but not necessarily flat walking distance to many if not most in town shops, restaurants, and attractions.
