People are kind. The artsy stuff was awesome. Private rooms are nice but there is still a shared ceiling so any noise would go through that way if your trying to have thaaaaaat much privacy

It was my first time at a hostel. I really enjoyed the experience and the sauna! The staff were very friendly. I didn’t have any noise distractions and slept great! They also provide fans for “White noise” if needed. This is very conveniently located downtown so walking to eat was a breeze- lots of options since I was backpacking and didn’t have a car

This place was great, for a hostel. Cheap, convenient, and quirky as I hoped. It wasn’t polished, but I don’t expect it to be. The furnace went out, but they comped 50% of the cost. The kitchen was fully furnished. Fun books and games all around. Overall, a great experience!

In and Out, What a Breeze!

I needed a place to stay the night before NorthShore Marathon, and this fit the bill perfectly! I got in late but check-in was so, so easy and straightforward. It was cozy, clean, and comfortable. I felt safe regardless of sleeping with 30+ other random people. The little bunks were big enough I could store belongings with me, which was a plus. (They do offer lockers). They had single bathrooms with a sink and shower along with a separate area of sinks and a mirror. The common area downstairs felt lived-in and practical. The little kitchenette had useful amenities like a fridge, freezer, portable stove, handful of spices, dishware, sinks, dishwasher and coffee machine. I was able to park in their adjacent lot out back which was convenient. The hostel was about a 15-20 minute walk to the DECC, so I didn't need to worry about finding parking for the duration of the marathon. I booked this place the night before I came, so it was certainly a game-day decision. But I am oh, so glad I did. It was an unexpected massive highlight of the weekend. Thanks, Hostel du Nord. You've gained a returning customer!

Dude who was on duty Saturday night was rarely at the front desk. Water station ran out and nobody refilled it. (We had to grab a half-open jug of water and poor into our cups) No soap, shampoo in bathrooms. Only 1 towel in private room. No lock on bathroom stall door. Overall, falling apart, not taken care of. Need more people to give the place some love and care.

The Hotsel is absolutely amazing in term of location, cleanliness and staff helpfulness and accommodation! The only and also a major complaint is the locker provided along with the room. The provided number combination works sometimes and cause problem twice that needed assistance from staff, which is not available after hour.

This hostel has multiple sitting areas, a great deck/porch area and an amazing sauna and cold plunge tub. Jake, the manager was very friendly and helpful.

It's a good hostel. The bed was softer-cushiony than any stay I had at chain motels and hotels in the past 10 years. I will stay there again. I had a private room for my wife and me. My car was safe in their lot.

Excellent service with affordable price

Comfortable place if you’re looking for something affordable without fuss. There’s no 24-7 front desk but management is very responsive via phone. Relatively clean. People just need to follow the rules and keep common area clean. Most people bring their dirty habits with when they travel, but for the most part, the facility does well with keeping the property clean and safe. I have been here a few times and plan for more stays.
