Terrible Stay

**False Advertising, Poor Service, and Uncomfortable Stay** I booked this hotel *specifically* because they advertised a heated pool, which was the main reason for our stay. Upon arrival, we found out the pool was *not* heated at all, making it completely unusable. My kids were extremely disappointed, as this was supposed to be a fun getaway for them. When I brought this issue to the staff, their response was completely dismissive. There was no sense of urgency in fixing the problem, and every time I asked for an update, they made it seem like I was being unreasonable for even asking. Instead of taking accountability, they acted like it wasn’t a big deal—even though this was the *one* reason we chose this hotel. To make matters worse, the valet was an absolute disaster. It was completely unorganized, took forever to get our car, and felt chaotic the entire time. For the price we paid, I expected way better service. As if that wasn’t enough, the beds were incredibly uncomfortable—way too firm, and the pillows were flat and lumpy. None of us slept well, which only made the entire experience even worse. Overall, this stay was a massive disappointment. Between the false advertising, dismissive staff, and uncomfortable accommodations, I would *never* stay here again. If you're considering booking, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Gorgeous hotel!

Absolutely beautiful hotel! Excellent service. Loved having the bar and restaurant on-site and very close proximity to the Pleasure Pier. Great location for catching the Seawall Mardi Gras parade. We have already booked again for next time we'll be in Galveston

Booking Error - Hotel Refused to Cancel or Modify

I mistakenly reserved a room at the hotel thinking that a business conference was there rather than at a different hotel. The room was non-refundable, but I realized my mistake about 15-20 min later. After failing to respond at all for 3-4 days, the hotel then refused to accept cancellation or even offer a credit for a future stay. Incredibly low-grade service. Have been a customer in the past but hard to imagine that I would return again.

The property is way over priced for the room night. The food in there restaurant made us sick. I spoke to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager. I’m still waiting a week later for someone to contact me. I would never recommend staying in this hotel.

Beautiful hotel for a relaxing stay!

We have been coming to the Galvez for several years, and it’s probably our favorite hotel in Galveston, even more so since it changed owners and has been beautifully renovated. Our room was a partial ocean view and spacious. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The lobby and bar area are spectacular and great for relaxing. Valentines Day dining at The Monarch restaurant was wonderful, with a violinist providing beautiful music for the patrons. Service was great and the food was delicious. The location can’t be beat. It’s within walking distance to Murdoch’s, Pleasure Pier, and restaurants. The pool area is fantastic. We never left the property until we checked out, except to walk to Murdoch’s. It’s truly a place to get away and relax. I can’t think of anything we didn’t like except that we couldn’t stay longer.
