Loved this hotel. Lovely vibe- a bit dated but perfect for the New Orleans experience. Somewhat loud with the tram going lazy outside, but again it was fun to look out the window and see it so I really enjoyed it and the loud noise didn’t bother me.

The hotel offered a historic feel. Easy to get to. Staff were fantastic! Can’t say enough good things about Jen and crew for assisting us. Walking distance to the French Quarter and easy street car ride to the Garden District.

I would recommend The Lafayette. The staff was wonderful. Good location. Nice room, but it did have that old smell. I think it was just the building. We bought a candle and it really helped. We had other people in our party and the smell did not seem to bother them.We did hear the street car and other noise from outside. A sound machine was provided which helped. It might be a problem for a light sleeper. I read one review that said they didn’t have hairdryers, we had one. They also provide drinking water and there is a in the lobby. The one complaint was the treatment of the valet assistants. They were made to stay outside with no heat when the temperatures were in the 40s.
