Stayed Before—Wouldn’t Stay Again
While I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel a few years back, I was sorely disappointed in the service and cleanliness.
For a hotel that markets itself as a “luxury boutique” hotel, I was shocked to find the staff sitting in a coworking space (designed for guests) adjacent to the entry rather than standing to greet guests in the reception area. There was no concierge and no bell boy to help me with my bags.
The hotel’s excuse was that as a 4-star hotel they are not required to have a concierge. This is absurd. I have been to 4-star hotel with Golden Key concierge staff (the highest level of training possible). Needless to say, don’t expect help from the hotel staff to make dinner reservations, print out the train schedule, or help you with your bags. You’re on your own at Victoria Palace.
Furthermore, while I like the decor, the cleaning is subpar, as there was mold in my shower and stains on the carpet.
This once lustrous hotel has seen better days—and better service!
