Clean room with nice views depending on where you're facing. We had 4 rooms total in our party and each of us had a different view with only 1 that wasn't good. Great breakfast for those wanting Mexican and continental options. Antonio was really nice and helpful.

Review: The Reef 28 — stressful, noisy, and an accusation that ruined our holiday I rarely leave reviews, but I feel genuinely obligated to warn others about our experience at The Reef 28. First we have been to Mexico 5 times before but this is the first time we have experienced anything like this. Normally we experience exceptional service and we have to say most of the general service staff were pretty good. I honestly don’t know where to start, because this stay was one of the most stressful and unpleasant hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We simply asked for help installing our Amazon Fire Stick. I’m 62, and the TV in the room is not something you can casually “mess with” — it’s solidly bolted into an extremely heavy frame and clearly not designed to be removed without proper tools and more than one person. Despite that, we were accused of breaking the TV. What happened next was the worst part: a manager (name starting with D) escalated the situation and sent misleading photos to Expedia claiming we “scratched the TV and caused the LED to break.” We were then threatened with police involvement if we didn’t pay for the TV. I cannot describe how intimidating and upsetting this felt in the moment — it genuinely felt like we were being pressured into paying for something we did not do. Thankfully, I had the presence of mind to record several videos — including footage of D and a large security guard in the room while further accusations were being made.

There was hammering above our bed 3 times . One at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 am . We reported it and it still happened again. There are not enough chairs around the pool because they open the pool to other guest at sister properties .

Overall a nice place, the spa hydrotherapy was nice with all the standard features of a 5 star hotel. The food was not the best but definitely not the worst which is why the 4 star rating but the highlight of the stay was whoever was cleaning my room 3406 did an Amazing job, even comparable to a four seasons stay of service and cleaning which was mind blowing to me, from folded clothes to braided cables and much more she truly did an amazing job. Overall a great place to stay and would come back!

The Mexican one was much better, food was tasty but service was lazy (asked twice for our drinks which arrived after our starter and then had to ask for glasses for the water). The staff was friendly. The lobby bartenders were great. The rooms were spacious and clean. The gym was decent size, and appropriate for the number of rooms. The hotel was in a great location! You could walk to the beach or to 5th avenue where many of the restaurants are. You could also walk to the ferry terminal to go to Cozumel. For the price paid, the property had great value and we would definitely visit again. The property isn't all inclusive for everyone and you have to opt in to a certain package. There are different packages and depending on which one you pick you'll get a different wristband. What we were entitled to based on our package was hard to remember, but we eventually figured it out. Since the all inclusive was not standard, there are checks that are delivered at the end of each meal (not including the breakfast buffet) that you have to sign and you can't just walk away. We found that to be annoying at times when we wanted to head out and couldn't find anyone to help.
