Great central location with unbeatable access to public transport. Well used rooms but clean and everything worked , exactly what you would be expecting from a hotel in this price bracket. So it’s a thumbs up

Clean Room and close to Central station. We went and had a drink in the downstairs bar it was a great atmosphere down there and we had a meal there. Food was excellent. We would recommend the hotel to other travellers.

This property is in a great location with easy access to the light rail, Central Station, Market City and Chinatown. It has great food at very reasonable prices, and is close to many other eateries. Clean rooms, helpful staff. We have stayed here several times and definitely will stay again.

Expedia assisted us in making a decision on where to stay during a visit to Sydney. Must day that The Great Southern Hotel was a gem of s find in Chinatown and proximate to nearly everything we did... Chinatown has numerous eateries, is one minute from Paddy's Market, one minute to light rail services and twin minutes from trains. Unbeknown to us, our tour of the Blue Mountains also left from a church just 200m up the road. Great hotel, friendly staff, all services and clearly popular.

Room was clean, the facilities good but showing signs of wear. Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was good, we chose the continental style. The location is great and suited our needs - which were central location, close to transport, clean rooms and a bed to sleep in. If we were in Europe we would be trying to stay in 2-3 star accommodation in easy walking distance from a major transport hub. Great Southern fitted our needs perfectly. We would definitely stay there again.

We were disturbed on both nights by people in the neighbouring room talking far to loudly - 1 am on Sunday, midnight on Saturday. Otherwise enjoyed the food and art deco ambience.

Location was excellent, everything you could want to visit is within walking distance, and the tram is just round the corner for those other sites. Room was better than I expected, 1st time staying there, won't be the last time.
