The location is great when arriving by train. Also convenient for the light rail. Cannot fault the hotel from this point of view. Hotel is "old" and it has that feel about it. This is a part of its charm to present a hotel (and history) form the early 20th century. Floors are a bit of a rabbit warren and rooms (at least 'my' room) are a little dull.

This is a really historic building and the room furniture all dated back to 1903, which I found amazing and really added to the ambiance to the place!

Great Value in a Big City

Loved the beautifully maintained/restored Art Deco ambience of the lobby and public spaces. Reception staff were pleasant. One of them went the extra mile in helping us carry out baggage down a flight of stairs to the Uber pick up point at the back of the hotel. Vehicles cannot stop at the front of the hotel. We were able to extend our checkout to 1pm for a reasonable charge Our room was small, it was clean, the bed was comfortable with safe, tea/coffee tray, frig, desk, one chair, iron, and blackout drapes. The air-con was good, silent on low and with a ceiling fan we kept very cool. There were no luggage stands. There is no light in the entrance which complicates setting up the safe which is at floor level in wardrobe. Bathroom with walk-in shower is also small but functional. A grab bar in the shower would be a good improvement. One tiny bottle of hair shampoo/conditioner in a room for two people is inadequate. The hotel is an easy walk to Asian eateries in Haymarket and to Central Station, light rail and buses.

Decent hotel in a good (for me) location, the room was relatively small, the bathroom very small, I really dislike uncovered blankets on the bed, breakfast was soso - not great selection, but workable. Overall good, but not great.

Don’t accept a room on top floor (level 6) at the font of the hotel and particularly Room 616A as there is an exhaust outlet close to the room that emits a loud throbbing sound which the front desk did nothing about when reported close to midnight. The room is small, the bath towels had holes, there were no hand towels and only 1 tiny tube of shampoo, 2 small bars of soap and the paper facial tissue box was nearly empty and there was no replacement. There was also a small sliver of broken glass and fluff around the edges of the fitted carpet.

The central railway station was a block away and extremely convenient for travel throughout the city. Location was very very busy but overall it was a very good stay staff was helpful and friendly.

Booked for my friends. Her husband went to reception to report that not all the lights and air conditioning wasn't working either. Nobody came to see what t problem was. Next morning they handed the card for any maintenance problems to the man at reception he said did you put the room card all the way in she didn't know that and had only just put it in the slot. This could have been fixed if only the person had come to see what might have been the problem. Apart from this the had a lovely stay and said if they were to come to Sydney again they would be happy to stay there again.. Nobo
